The meek will inherit the earth, but they won't inherit the ice. The rocky road to Canadian statehood is slip sliding away on the ice.
There is no love lost between Team Canada and Team USA. Some historians believe that the animosity dates back to the French and Indian Wars that began in 1754. I have my doubts about that theory. If that thesis featured lacrosse, I might change my mind.
The 4 Nations hockey tournament featuring Finland, Sweden, Canada, and the US prelims took place in Montreal. There is a good chance that the Canadian and US teams could meet again in Boston.
The US team won their match against Canada last night with a score of 3 goals to 1. In each match the US national anthem has been booed by the Canadian spectators.
President Macron of France has made a phone call to both President Trump and Prime Minister Trudeau, offering to broker a peace deal between the US and Canada. He has offered to grant asylum to Trudeau and Justin Bieber and the US would be allowed to confer citizenship upon Jordan Peterson.
If I were President Trump, I would demand the annexation of Saskatchewan. A Canadian province that has a town named Moose Jaw is worthy of being a part of the United States.

I don't know that we should take that from anyone who has had a Commie twerp like Trudeau as PM for almost a decade, but if they play in Boston, cheer their anthem. Then kick their butts off the ice.

Not exactly Miracle on Ice, but I didn't expect the US to win last night. Hellebuyck was excellent and might be the guy who determines the outcome of the 4 Nations. If there's a better way to thank Montreal for their hospitality, I'm all ears.
There's an excellent chance for a rematch in the final. Leave no doubt.

Now I understand. The game wasn't played in Canada. It was played in Quebec. I was wondering why all the hostility. Anyone from Florida or who has traveled to Mexico in the winter knows how awful the Quebecois can be. Trump should modify his proposal. We will give statehood to all of Canada west of Quebec. Quebec can stay Canadian.

I had often said that "Quebec Sovereignty Referendums" should be a national vote. Not just in Quebec because this is a vote on the future of Canada - not just Quebec. I bet the referendum would pass everywhere but Quebec.
At one time there was a bid to buy the St Louis Blues, and move them to Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Saskatoon even built an arena for them. I was strongly in favour of this bid, if for no other reason than to force sports "journalists" to learn to spell Saskatoon Saskatchewan.
