The little app that couldn't could end the government that created it.

It started out in the Covid hysteria to determine if travelers should be quarantined after arrival in Canada (short hand, Canadian= Yes, Foreigner = No). At one point it falsely had 10,000 Canadians wrongly detained.... The little app that started out as an $80,000 dysfunctional bureaucratic dream has turned into a $60 million nightmare crap-nado of incompetence, corruption and patronage that should highlight the need for a new government.

Even the CBC has done a fair timeline of the scandal to bring its viewers up to speed on the story. The CBC has done its best to ignore the story, but finally can no longer downplay the minor spending scandal at a minor agency doing things that Canadians don't care about...

Now that the liberal government has forced the CBC to do honest reporting on the scandal, the writing is finally on the wall. The Auditor General has stated that the paperwork is so bad on this project that it may never be known how much was spent on this app - or what the funds paid for were actually spent on - as they spent 750x more on this project than was initially budgeted.

This post was promoted to the Main Feed at the recommendation of Ricochet's members.

You are looking at this all the wrong way. Why, if they only appropriate another 20MM to it they can make it better (for the grifters).

Do you really think there will be any consequence for bad government, other than more government?

OCDN, what is the likelihood that Trudeau steps down as Liberal leader, only to be replaced by one of his flunkies/clones? Do you think there will be a vote of no confidence (if the Canadian system has such a mechanism)?

We, both US and Canada, have turned the leadership of our countries over to the stupid and evil people.

This was an obvious failure on the part of the Trudeau Government to control the position of Auditor General to ensure reliability.

Like the US did in the position of Homeland Security Secretary to control the border.
