Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
Back in April of this year, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the much-to-be-admired country of Hungary. This state visit occurred in open defiance of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Netanyahu for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. In fact, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán rolled out the red carpet for Netanyahu, all the while guaranteeing the latter’s immunity from the absurd arrest warrant and using the occasion to announce the beginning of its withdrawal process from the ICC.
The ICC happens to be located in The Hague, Netherlands, and has jurisdiction, such as it is, to prosecute individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity and the like. But this so-called international court wouldn’t recognize a real crime against humanity if it came up and bit it on the ass.
Actually, let me qualify that just a bit. The ICC is capable of recognizing some crimes against humanity, but when it comes to Israel vs. Palestine (so-called), it’s cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Israel is always the equivalent of Nazi Germany(!) and the Palestinians (so-called) are always the equivalent of the Jews(!) who, in actuality, were the ones sent to the Nazi death camps.
Did you follow that? I guess that’s what you call postmodern international jurisprudence — though the mindset has been around since time immemorial.
Speaking of those death camps, approximately 75% of the Jewish population of the Nazi-occupied Netherlands was sent off to be murdered. That gives that country the unenviable distinction of having the highest Jewish extermination rate of any Nazi-occupied Western European country. And now, the so-called International Criminal Court, perhaps appropriately located in the Netherlands, sees Israel as the eternal, Nazi-like genocidal state. How’s that for some irony? And idiocy?
In the meantime, France, Canada and the UK have announced that they will recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations General Assembly in September. Well, that should bring the house down and get beaucoup standing O’s in that useless and despicably anti-Semitic international body.
Most people are aware that the UN has issued more resolutions against Israel than against all the other countries on earth combined. But most may not be aware that Israel is the target of a standing agenda item (Item 7) at the UN Human Rights Council, such that Israeli actions are discussed and condemned at every single session, no matter what, come hell or high water.
Attention! This meeting will come to order! And now, Item 7, our obligatory discussion of Israel’s ceaseless crimes against humanity. On your mark, get set . . . Go! Sudan, let’s hear from you first. Then we’ll hear from . . . let’s see . . . China. Then Cuba. Then Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Morocco, Qatar, and . . . we’ll see how much time we have. Now, let’s hear it: Genocide, apartheid state, stolen land, illegal occupation, from the river to the sea . . . Music to our ears . . .
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said recently on X: “Canada has long been committed to a two-state solution,” and further blathered about “an independent, viable, and sovereign Palestinian state living side by side with the State of Israel in peace and security.”
The leaders of those other two aforementioned countries, intending to recognize “Palestine,” have no doubt mouthed similar nonsensical platitudes in public. Those are the words of your typical postmodern, godless, gutless, Western world leader who seems utterly incapable of learning anything from history or past mistakes. Even after October 7th, they still use this childishly naïve language: “living side by side . . . in peace and security.”
Idiots!
Why should I — or anyone — have to type out the following words: No country can live side by side in peace and security with another country totally and singularly dedicated to the annihilation of the other.
Fools!
Or rather, stooges. Starmer, Macron and Carney are like Larry, Moe and Curly, the Three Stooges of Western leaders. They repeatedly get poked in the eyes, slapped across the face, punched in the breadbasket, and El Kabonged on the head with various metal objects by the Palestinians and their supporters, but never get wise and figure out how to avoid the abuse.
And if you don’t agree that these guys are useless tools, then consider what Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, just said in an Al-Jazeera interview: "The initiative by several countries to recognize a Palestinian state is one of the fruits of October 7.”
Way to go, stooges! Terrorism works — at least with spineless clods like Starmer, Macron and Carney. When Trump heard about this, he made it clear there could be significant trade and diplomatic consequences for their stupidity and pusillanimity. One hopes all three are forced to grovel at Trump’s feet while begging his forgiveness for being such simps for Hamas.
During his first presidential term, Trump smashed the antediluvian paradigm that humanity, if not the universe itself, requires the existence of a “Palestinian state” and eventually began bringing in Arab states to make peace with Israel under the Abraham Accords. The Accords were understandably strained by the recent war in Gaza, not because the leaders of the signatory countries were stupid enough to think Israel shouldn’t have fought back, but because of those leaders’ concerns about their own restive populations that might be prone, in their blind anti-Semitism, to destabilization.
But the writing is now on the wall, in big bold letters. Israel has wrecked Hamas and Hezbollah, and with Trump’s help, Iran has been defanged. The idea that Israel’s continued existence is dependent upon the creation of a Palestinian state is as dead as woke, late-night talk show hosts. Or terrorists using beepers.
Or international criminal courts that stupidly issue arrest warrants for someone who is actually performing a service for humanity and civilization.

Well done.
This is just my amateur opinion. There are 20 live hostages left. Why would Hamas ever give those guys up? Israel has lost hundreds of soldiers and will lose more if they keep doing this. I don't see why they don't drop hundreds of bunker busters on the tunnels and then finish it off with MOABs.

Maybe Trump should increase tariffs on France, Canada, the UK, and any other country supporting this evil and foolish resolution. (I'm only half kidding) I hope that the President and State Department will take swift action to nip this in the bud.

Thank you. It does seem pretty cut and dry to me.

I don't have a high opinion of an international criminal court, either in theory or in practice. But if something seems cut and dried that usually means there's something very wrong.
