Secession has been sort of a running half joke for some years now in Texas. By half joke I mean we know it’s not currently practical, but if it was I believe an overwhelming majority of Texans would approve. Lately most of you have probably read about our legislature passing a law to allow arrest of illegal border crossers, and now the DOJ has threatened to take Texas to court over the issue. In addition, our state police force (Department of Public Safety) as well as Texas national guard have been in some frequent disagreements with feds on the border. In some cases, the feds are cutting wire barriers set up by state agencies. On a forum I frequent someone suggested that Texas officials should arrest feds who interfere with the enforcement of Texas law. I can actually see this happening at some point. What would it be other than a run up to a serious fight over state’s rights? And a very real threat to secede?
If the state of Maine (my state of birth) thinks they can kick presidential candidates off the ballot I don’t really want to be in a union with them anymore. Ditto for Colorado. Our federal government is failing us basically everywhere. Maybe this is really it.
I can’t wait for the gunboats to say “Texas Navy”.

I believe the threat of that is the only thing that will slow down this madness. As long as they have a captive audience, they have no reason to moderate. They won't mess with Texas. They will wait for a smaller state to join you then scoop in and Jan 6 the governor, AG, and a few sheriffs in the smaller state for insurrection to make an example for the rest of the states. What would happen after that is anyone's guess. However, I hope Texas arrests them. I'm curious to see how far gone our federal government is.

I think we already know that. What we don't know is how far the states have gone along with it.

Proof, if you ever needed it, that the border crisis is happening by design.
