Is Transgenderism Dying?

The societal trauma that has emerged from the claims of youth converting to transgenderism has been devastating, as can be seen by the numbers of young people who joined up, their enabling parents, the greedy and unethical medical profession and their supporting organizations. Too many people, teens and parents alike, have been brainwashed into believing that transgenderism is legitimate, and as a result, many lives and relationships have been decimated.

But the tide has turned.

We can only speculate about the reasons, but the number of people who have become transgender or queer has declined significantly, according to a report produced by a Canadian professor:

Canadian professor Eric Kaufmann found the share of students at 'elite' universities who professed to have irregular gender identities had dropped drastically in the past two years. Even more interesting, he concluded the trend reversal was happening independently of political or religious beliefs, which did not follow the same trendlines.

One celebrity, Kiera Knightley, suggested that we all just need to respect our different opinions about those who are transgender, but I agree with Elle Purnell in her article linked above:

Injecting children with sterilizing hormones, chopping off their healthy body parts, and forcing them to share bathrooms with perverts is not a ‘different opinion’ that deserves respect; it’s behavior that a sane society would deem criminal. You wouldn’t just ask people to ‘figure out how to live together’ with murderous criminals (unless, of course, you were a Democrat district attorney). I don’t want to be forced to ‘live together’ with pedophiles who lurk in the women’s bathroom — I want those guys locked up away from me and my future daughters.

For those who would listen to us, we knew and told them that this was a process that targeted people who had serious mental problems and were convinced that adopting transgender norms would heal them:

Critics of transgenderism have often described the trend as a 'social contagion.’ A blistering new report from the Centre for Heterodox Social Science just gave that label newfound heft. In short, the report found that, after surging in the 2010s and 2020s, trans and ‘queer’ identities are in sharp decline among young Americans. Colleges — typically maligned as being the breeding ground for far-leftism in 2025 — saw the number of trans-identifying students cut nearly in half after its peak in 2023. That year, nearly 7 percent of college students identified as trans. That number now sits at less than 4 percent.

What can we infer from this information, and what questions do we need to be asking:

  1. Was transgenderism only a fad or trend?
  2. Will children who have already become transgender change back?
  3. How will parents adjust to the decisions that their children may revert to a heterosexual lifestyle?
  4. Will parents refuse to support their children to abandon this conversion?
  5. How will teachers and counselors react to these kids? Will they be supportive or disagree with their choices?
  6. How will medical professionals respond?
  7. Will families try to sue doctors and hospitals?
  8. How can we determine that mental illness (of the children and parents) was at least partially the source of this drastic change?

Many more questions will arise if this report and its results get traction.

My heart breaks for all the kids and families whose lives have been devastated by this atrocity.

It was always clear to me that the recent popularity of trans began after the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in 2015. The Dems needed a new minority and so they and their surrogates hyped transgenderism into the culture, where it ended up in the brains of young people, exactly as they intended.

I’m pretty sure I remember discussing right here on Ricochet sometime shortly after the 2015 Supreme Court decision who would be the next minority the Dems would try to create. Because at that time, trans wasn’t a thing yet. It was the T in LGBT yes, but that was it.

I recently asked the google AI about this. I was expecting a phony answer but it gave me what I had had always suspected, although for a false reason:

Yes, there was a significant increase in the number of people identifying as transgender, particularly among young adults and teenagers, starting about a decade ago, with rates quadrupling and quintupling in some age groups by 2023. This rise is attributed to a combination of increased social acceptance, visibility, and understanding, as well as a more comfortable environment for young people to come to terms with their gender identity. o

    • Younger generations are leading the increase: While the overall adult population identifying as transgender has grown, the most dramatic increases are seen in younger age groups. For example, identifying as transgender among 18-to 24-year-olds quintupled between 2014 and2023.

(No you dumbass, the reason is the Dems hyping it in search of a new minority. That’s right, inflicting mental illness in children so that they can have more political power.)

It also said that the previous rate of male to female transgenderism was about 1 in 30,000 people before the increase and 1 in 100,000 female to male.

It would have been nice to have had political leaders who could have made this point loudly and continually while it was going on, making sure every young person knew or suspected that they were being used. Saying something like, “If you think you’re trans, you almost certainly aren’t and are being lied to by the adults in your life … teachers, doctors, parents, whoever … You’re being used for political purposes.” In addition to how fun it would have been to see the Dems go completely nuts in response, it might have actually saved some kids a lot of trouble. It’s the kind of obnoxious thing you’d think Trump would want to say but I guess that’s expecting too much.

Transgenderism was at least two distinct things.

One was a social contagion in the tradition of various eating disorders, multiple personalities, recovered memories, things like that. That version is finally burning out, despite having been supported by adults who should have known better.

The other is uglier, a nihilistic opportunism on the part of narcissistic and fetishistic males.

Both were doomed, because they’re self evidently ridiculous and incredibly harmful to women and girls and the occasional young man caught up in the contagion.

It’s taking longer than it should to put an end to it because the left is obsessed with anything that smacks of sexual radicalism.

The good news is that now men can go back to wearing women's clothes without having to claim they are in fact women . . .

At least he's banned the treatments; he's also said there are only two genders. That satisfies me.

The left is certainly going to fight this change, Hank.
