Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
Someone at the US Naval Academy thought it was appropriate to invite a lefty historian, Ruth Ben-Ghiat, who has been on news shows likening Trump to authoritarian dictators she has studied. The lecture was initially to be closed to the public. Academy grads and the Heritage Foundation pushed back and first got it opened to the public and then got her invitation revoked. Now the left has its panties in a wad and sees this as a window into an authoritarian America under Trump.
Why do they believe future officers should be exposed to all ideas, including Marxist ones? They even attack Heritage’s Project 2025 as an authoritarian playbook because it states service academy courses must be scrubbed of Marxist ideology and that service academy professors should not have tenure.
Why would service academy leadership believe it is healthy to teach future officers that their future commander-in-chief is an authoritarian leader? Are they planting the seeds for a military rebellion against Trump? How many Milleys and Vindmans are there? It is “the long march through the institutions” on full display. This warrants a congressional inquiry, but that would require a will on the part of Congress critters to push back.

The military services have had a good twenty-plus years since the enactment of the Patriot Act to identify and cleanse the military of those who would not take up arms against fellow Americans. I suspect there has been significant achievement of that objective.

Have you noticed a major campaign by the Democrat Leftist political campaign to attack Trump for his pointing out the Leftist enemy within America as the biggest threat to the American Republic? This identification of Trump's rhetoric as portending dictatorial leadership is the major campaign theme falsehood being doled out by the Democrats. They know if Trump is POTUS their run is over.

I think tenure ought to be tossed out as a general principle, but in the service academies? Absolutely not.

Americans have the good fortune of already experiencing four high performance years of President Donald Trump followed by four disastrous years of Biden/Harris and Democrats. Now we get to choose.
