The other day I posted the following note on X (formerly known as Twitter):

Can I say the quiet part out loud? The hostages are doomed. Some may come out of this alive, but this experience will wreck them. It is beyond sad. Nothing their governments might do will change this. The actions of Hamas have dictated this outcome. The focus has to be on demonstrating the price that terrorists will pay for their terrorism, and to punish those who enable terrorism.

I hesitated to post it. It is a terrible thought. But one man, the father of a little girl killed on 10/7, validated this point of view:

An Irish father living in Israel said he was relieved when he heard the news of his 8-year-old daughter’s death at the hands of Hamas, insisting it was a “blessing” compared to the alternative of her being held captive and savagely tortured by the terrorists.

<snip>

“She was either dead or in Gaza, and if you know anything about what they do to people in Gaza, that is worse than death, that is worse than death,” the grieving [Thomas Hand] said. “The way they treat you, they have no food, they have no water.”

“She’d be in a dark room with Christ who knows how many people and terrified every minute, hour, day and possible years to come,” he cried out. “So death was a blessing, an absolute blessing.”

Those hostages that are still alive have been in captivity, terror, or worse for seven days. Any delay in ending the capacity of Hamas to do harm by treating with them for hostages is not a blessing, no matter the outcome. I am gutted for the families and loved ones of the hostages, but Thomas Hand is right: there is something worse than death.

And grieving though he is, he knows the terror for his daughter has ended. She did not have to experience what the hostages have, are, and will experience. Hers is not the incomplete recovery, the PTSD, and the unavoidable sense of perpetual vulnerability that any survivor of this ordeal faces. We should not turn our faces away from this reality. We must not let the supporters of Hamas turn their faces, or mouth equivalencies.

Here is the photo of Emily Hand, killed at Kibbutz Be’eri:

The silent part must be said out loud. And Hamas must be destroyed.

    He is right. They must go in with a terrible swift force and make sure the Hamas terrorists AND the Hamas supporters are killed or experience a terror great enough to deter them from ever doing this again.

    I wonder if Zafar has anything to say about this.

    No need to go in. They chose this, so we'd have to respond. We'd probably respond by going in.

    We can starve Hamas of the attention they so desperately seek with a siege.

    To much the same point

    Zaka is an Israeli organization dedicated to saving lives, and to collecting the dead for proper burial. the people who do the collection of bodies and body parts are highly trained and experienced, they regard this as a religious obligation.

    In conversation with a knowledgeable Israeli, I heard that the volunteers dealing with the dead victims of the Hamas invasion were horrified and almost incapable of speech, they had never seen such atrocities.

    I clicked on the “like” button because this is so important, but then again how can I like this information?

    The subhumans who perpetrated this deserve nothing more than a painful death, hopefully slow.
