Don’t Panic

The doomsayers are predicting that we won't get the Senate back until 2032 at the earliest, when the just-elected class of senators will be on the ballot again. They are saying that Justices Thomas (age 78) and Alito (age 76) will likely retire and be replaced by a Democrat-appointed justice, or at least by a justice who has to get through a Democrat-controlled Senate. We could have a 5-4 Democratic-controlled SCOTUS.

But there is no reason to panic. There is no reason that Thomas and Alito cannot serve six more years. They would be 84 and 82, respectively, then. Of course, health can change unexpectedly in one's 80s, but Thomas and Alito both seem to be physically and mentally at the top of their game. There is no reason they should have to leave before 2032.

Even the Senate is not locked in until 2032. There are six vulnerable Democratic senators on the ballot in 2028. Here they are with their 2022 winning percentages:

• Mark Kelly (Ariz.) 51%

• Raphael Warnock (Ga.) 51%

• Catharina Cortez-Masto (Nev.) 49%

• Maggie Hassan (N.H.) 54%

• Sherrod Brown (Ohio) 50% in 2026 special election

• John Fetterman (Pa.) 51%

To be fair, two Republicans—Ron Johnson (Wisc.) 50% and Ted Budd (N.C.) 50%—are running in purple states and might be vulnerable themselves. But if it's a decent year for Republicans, we could pick up six Senate seats and regain the majority.

House Democrats are sure to overreact. They will pass all kinds of crazy, unpopular bills. There will be lots of screeching and hate from the Squad and the Bloc. They will push trans-ing the kids again; they will try to defund the American military while it is in combat; and they will try to restart unlimited immigration. House Republicans will have plenty of ammunition for their races in 2028.

Granted, it won't be a fun two years. But there is no reason to despair for 2028.

This is going to be way more interesting than that. There is an announcement of a new national party in the offing to represent the independents that now outnumber registered Republicans and nearly match registered Democrats, and to represent disgruntled party members, of which we have a record number. Maybe an America first party could get us past our national slavery to foreign despots, the military industrial complex, teacher unions, open borders, and all the other cruel jokes we have made for ourselves.

In the meantime, I pray for Thomas and Alito and thank them for their excellent service.

Overplaying their hands is what both parties do best.

Republican voters gave it up. Let the voters suffer. The $1 cheaper gas? Suckers. Didn’t like Darlene Graham because Trump picked her? When asked if she would support Sen Schumer for leader? Andrews said it was time for a “generational change.” I don’t need to interpret that. Dems bought that seat with millions of campaign ads that ran nonstop here. Soon we will see who funded her. It wasn’t the moderates. She is a radical lefty who campaigned on what she was told to say based on a polling company that told her what to say to win. Now she will do what she was told to do, vote how she is told to vote. Graham’s offices that had supported us with our issues when we needed help will close. The left’s propaganda offices will open and won’t give a damn about conservative voter’s needs. Their job will be undoing what Trump did for us. Republicans need not despair?

I warned the left was reaching the endgame. That is how Marxism works. They will ram it all down our throats and never let us undo it. The pendulum swings back and forth but never as far to right as it was before.

The Repubs don’t overplay, they underperform.

I’ll be changing my registration when I get back home.
