The Left Suffers from a God Complex

Secularism is growing in our country, and many adherents believe that’s a positive development. They may even suggest it points to the intentions of our Founders, citing “separation of church and state,” not realizing that simply meant the government could not force (or sponsor) a state religion, and ignoring the words of John Adams: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People.”

Secularism is a major problem, as it not only substitutes its own values for religious values, but it also nurtures the development of a “God Complex.”

When people abandon the faiths of our forefathers and adopt secularism, there is a breach created in their belief system. If they reject God, they still believe in something. Secularists may admit that they are led to believe in themselves, adopting a “live your truth” attitude—also known as the “God Complex” problem. When people rely only on their own arbitrary beliefs, judgments, assessments, and analyses, they begin to believe they have the power that rightly belongs to God. That assumption leads to all kinds of dangerous behavior, particularly in our type of government.

How does an expanded secular personality demonstrate the God Complex attributes? The God Complex is the character of progressives. First, they are certain they know what is best for the country, and are not interested in considering other viewpoints. Their opinions are especially difficult for the right to accept, because without a belief in a moral authority, lying becomes foundational—“the end justifies the means.” Progressives, puffed up on superiority, denigrate, attack, and slander anyone who doesn’t get in line.

They are also bent on blaming others for outcomes, because it could never be their fault. They blame the current government shutdown on the Republicans, while they’ve used their own lies and distortions about ICE to justify their unwillingness to compromise. California’s homelessness problem, falling test scores in schools, rising inflation—these aren’t consequences of shifting away from conservative principles; it’s because we’re just not progressive enough!

We see disdain for law enforcement of any kind, threats to expand SCOTUS to create a leftist court; judges becoming activists; lawfare against the right; and a complete disregard for our “civil servants,” who refuse to pass the SAVE America Act, and who jet off on vacation while the country is in limbo regarding the shutdown.

The left has embraced this mindset for many years, and there is no sign of them pulling back.

    They believe in government.

Putting up this sign on the door of your church means that no one can ever – ever, ever, ever – bring a gun inside. Except for off-duty law enforcement. And knuckleheaded scofflaws.

This also allows them to pass laws that mandate the end of fossil fueled vehicles to protect Mother Gaia. Words on paper are just that valuable.

They believe government is their partner, and they team up to abuse the Right. Before Trump's term is over, I hope we see that turn around, especially with the rogue judges who come up with foolish reasons to reject Trump's efforts.

“God is in our DNA.” That doesn’t mean God has a particularly understood form, powers, knowledge, or interest in humans (although He may). It means that we are hardwired for social cohesion, and implied in that is hierarchical organization. We are more resonant with a “roof” than a sensory deprivation tank. Our traditional communions formed that roof. When our modernism challenged the assumptions of those communions some chose to adapt while others simply manufactured a new communion — secularism that morphs into the State because of our need for a roof.

How can a God Complex coexist with atheism? Shouldn't one snuff out the other, or something?

    ...

I disagree with the premise. Or the premise of the premise.

What's really happening is propaganda-level marketing. The left, or the Democrat Party, has to market themselves. The have to reach people, and resources, and financing, and get them on board. And they work a sort of pyramid scheme, where recruits bring in others, and feeling empowered when the do.

One mechanism is to crank up the emotions. Emotional people are naturally more involved, you can get more out of them, they tend to share their passion, and they are less likely to question the logic. And since the Dems own the mass media, it's pretty easy.

And this is consistent with your observations; knowing what is best, not interested in other viewpoints, lying, attacking others, blaming others for their failures, and so forth.

While this might look like a God Complex, that's not gonna help address the issue. It's really just a riled up mob.
