One of the many tiresome habits of the MSM and academic Islamist apologists is the regurgitation of the lie that the Islamic texts that expressly call for violence against non-believers are (a) context-specific and only applicable to events in the early formational years of Islam, and/or (b) merely relevant in the context of self-defense when attacked by infidels. They don't really call for violence.

Lt. Col. Brandon Shah

Oddly enough, in the 14 centuries since the death of the Prophet, Muslims have rather regularly misinterpreted this modest, context-specific, purely defensive guidance while they continued to invade, conquer, kill, and enslave many millions of non-Muslims. In recent years, the incidence of jihadist violence has been increasing again despite the internet making available creative translations that insert the revisionist references to self-defense, and despite assurances by our betters that these instances are a small aberration that we must endure in service to our commitments to diversity and to the polite ongoing euthanization of Western civilization.

The following figures are from Fondapol (Fondation pour l'innovation politique) regarding jihadist violence:

1979-2000: 2,194 attacks and 6,817 deaths.
2001-2012: 8,265 attacks and 38,187 deaths.
2013-April 2024: 56,413 attacks and 204,937 deaths.

Somebody really needs to tell Muslims that they need a more contextualized, more nuanced understanding of their creed. Unfortunately, I strongly suspect that this is not happening in Michigan or NYC mosques. Alas, even President Bush's annoying insistence on calling it The Religion of Peace has not attained much purchase on the theological perspective of Muslims.

We need to end the pretense that jihadist violence is some rare event unrelated to expressing religious texts. The weird but defining white liberal delusion that they have transcended their own culture, heritage, country prevents them from descending from that higher fictional plane to engage in a defense of the culture and heritage they have putatively escaped, even when they themselves may be personally at risk of lethal attack. We all have to pretend there is no such thing as jihad because it would disrupt the fantasy world of Keir Starmer or Barack Obama. (It's kinda like The Matrix for narcissists.)

The loss of Lt. Col Shah in the Old Dominion University attack by a Muslim who should have had no right to remain here after his conviction for treasonable jihadist activities ought to provide a punctuation mark capping the hard truth that whatever illusory benefits our prevailing policy outlook provides for the self-regard of the elite are not worth the loss of a single American life, especially not one as distinguished as this officer. (That the homicidal jihadi clown was immediately beaten to death by Shah's ROTC students is a small yet distinctly enjoyable consolation.)

Join us, celebrate and share the values that define us, or get the hell out. Why is that so hard? America is a very amiable club, but we should always retain the right to exclude those who claim a right or an obligation to kill our members.

Personal Note: This week some Muslim nutball entered a Michigan Catholic school attended by my grandchildren while shouting inanities, including the familiar Arabic phrase that the AP and CNN style guides translate as "My Motives Are Unclear!" Thankfully, he was tackled by security before he could undertake fulfilling some presumably sacred duty.

This idiot Roanoke DA tells us that if there still are guns out there that eventually there will be incidents like this. That it is the fault of "gun culture."

Doesn't the same logic apply to the numbers of people who believe Islamic teachings--eventually some of them will become instruments of violence?

Islam was encouraging violence violence 1,200 years before the NRA was founded and has a rather significantly higher number of deaths attributable to it.

I don’t accept your generous interpretation of the relevant passages in the Koran. Without even any least little bit of knowledge of the original language I draw substantially all of my conclusion from the behaviour of Islamists since Mohammed made up his creed. I think it’s rather like the myth of the peaceful and wise indigenous of the Americas.

Regardless - I agree wholeheartedly that “We need to end the pretense that jihadist violence is some rare event unrelated to express religious texts.” The pretense is ours alone, given the strength of its proclamation throughout the Islamic world. I don’t believe Mohammed was divine, nor that he even promoted a religious piety, (he didn’t even proscribe a healthy free civil society for his believers.) I do not accord to Islam the respect for Buddhism that I maintain.

Very sadly, I don’t see any teeny element of desire for a “more contextualized, more nuanced understanding of their creed.” The creed cannot coexist in a freedom based society. It’s based on conquest not free will.

We do need to be open and honest about addressing these issues. It's not going away. Certainly this hits a bit home for you regarding the Michigan school. We're sort of arriving at a cultural inflection point on this civilizational topic.

Similar to the change in the mindset of airlines post 911, where it went from passive cooperation with presumed rational hijackers to a more muscular defense of the aircraft, so to as a population we might have to take a mindset change regarding these types of threats domestically, such as this Old Dominion episode.

We'll have to verify that the new VA attorney general and VA Gov don't attempt to prosecute the groups that beat the shooter to death though. It could be labeled a "hate crime". They might come under pressure from CAIR or some other organization. The beating did also prevent the shooter from being left off easy and then committing yet another incident.

I am going to have to start posting more not he subject since I think a lot of American folks are still autopilot in this issue or believe it's all the bad downstream result of the Crusades or something.

Classic deflection and conflation tactics at work here. SOP for progressive politicians. Imagine relying on this guy to prosecute the shooter?

The purpose of something is what it does.

Just like how terrorists not getting deported is a thing that our government does.

That Lt. Col. Shah looks like a bad ass. I like him. I wonder if we'll be getting people marching in the street to protest his death or if we'll get a national holiday....no chance.
