Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
Watching Nikki Haley speaking on the campaign trail as though she's some kind of outsider, and pretending to have won something and is now gathering momentum, kills her credibility. It's one thing when a politician is hopeful and has a chance to rally the troops, it's another thing to see a politician either deluding themselves, or actively gaslighting us. Either way, it's unfit for office behavior as far as I'm concerned.
This is why people drop out of races... when it's clear they have no path forward. Anyone with dignity and self-respect would have no desire to pretend and go through farcical motions in front of supporters and the press, whilst spending other people's money. It's undignified, even for Chris Christie. They know they will squander their credibility forever if they continue to present themselves as viable.
Politicians have a lot of leeway to present things in their best (or worst) light, to make promises, or to deflect, but they can't deny reality of support levels of voters. It's embarrassing.
Coming in a distant third in Iowa and second in New Hampshire with the help of Democrats who are committed Biden supporters in the general election has me marveling how desperate and petty the GOPe are. But because Trump, Nikki Haley is ruining her political career. However she will likely sign a deal with CNN or Fox in 2025, and maybe that's the plan.
The regurgitated girl-power motif, through a Republican lens, is disgusting. And sad. None of the suburban women will be the least bit impressed with her pandering.
Then there are her vague complaints about racial bullying; that she was cast in a grammar school play as Pocahontas, when they should have cast Helga Svensfjord the Norwegian classmate I suppose.
Indian immigrants who are, for the most part, elites from India, not impoverished peasants, certainly the top 10% if not top 1%. Coming here and doing quite well, complaining about being treated in some lesser manner, by I guess, white people, who think they kinda look like Pocahontas more than Helga Svensfjord does? This is some kind of egregious violation of some incomprehensible rule you try to foist on us.
And of course I'm sure all the black folks would see she how deeply she understands their fundamental plight that white people are still so full of prejudice and hate which is the cause of all the problems.
Then she talks about a 'coronation', dismissing common political realities agreed upon by all historical precedent along with the scientific polling that would have to be spectacularly anomalous for her to have a chance at winning.
She may be a birdbrain, but her donors aren't. There really is a Uniparty faction. Or call them Neocons. Globalists. Sell outs. Liars. Pretenders. Tyrants.

I didn't understand this gripe. That should be an important role. She might have a point if she was cast as Generic Squaw #3 instead of Generic Pilgrim #2. Image being upset at getting the role of Juliet or Hamlet.

Why should a couple of relatively small states with populations and economic profiles that are not too close to the average among the states get to choose the candidates for the rest of the nation?
Iowa is known for choosing outliers like Robertson, Huckabee, Santorum, and others with its atypical caucus system. New Hampshire might be more centrist than the other New England states, but it seems to be a small sampling of a single region.
We have seen the results in two small states and now the pundits are proclaiming it's all over but the shouting.
This is not an endorsement of Haley or any other candidate. It just seems to me that we have given way too much credence to the results of these early contests.
(And by the way, isn't Pochahontas one of the best parts in the show?)
This is the game. States aren't all that different, although those two are in many ways, but people in America are generally the same.
Or take this up with the GOP This is the contest. There are a lot of things wrong with it. But this is accepting the rules of the game and then complaing to the refs after every play.
He won both of them (this hasn't happened recently) and Haley is polling 50 points behind in South Carolina her home State whereby the Governor and Senator and very other crucial Republican in the State has declared for the other candidate.
This is the gauntlet the GOPe is throwing down.
That Ron DeSantis spent 100 million on Iowa and still lost is a very strong indication of the political tea leaves. He read them. Will this same trend play out in other states?
Yes. It's clear where voters stand. This used to be where all'Republicans' would coalesce around the obvious candidate to defeat the Democrats, but this isn't any Republican so there's bleeding both directions. It's okay we aren't allies anymore.

I have defended her against false assertions about her time in SC. I can’t defend anything I have seen since she announced her candidacy. She isn’t president material. I said when she announced that the “Peter Principle” would catch up with her. One has to know one’s limitations. I could even say something worse than the “Peter Principle” got ahold of her. Sooner or later, all politicians (and many pundits) will disappoint you.

My blonde daughter (7/8 Swedish and Dutch and English heritage) was given the role of an Indian princess in the pre-school Thanksgiving event. Should I have been offended? Should someone else have been offended? All we saw were cute kids having fun.
