I recently went to Walgreens to buy a card for my wife for our anniversary (39 years!). I picked this one as it seemed sweet without being too mushy: “We may not be perfect, but we’re perfect for each other.”
I gave it to her on the appropriate day, and then she reminded me of something: two years ago on our anniversary I gave her the exact same card! And although when we’re leaving the house she can never find anything (e.g., sunglasses, keys, shoes), in this case she was able to produce the other card almost instantly.
And then she pointed out something else: one year I also gave her this same card for Valentine’s Day, and she pulled that one out, too:
I do remember that now, but for another reason. That year she gave me that same card as well! How cute is that? Unfortunately, I can’t locate it, so you’ll have to picture the above photo with four of the same card in it.
So... Walgreens, maybe rotate your stock more! Help a guy out.
Or maybe the best approach is just to declare that this is our card forevermore. I could just give her the same one for every occasion. I’ll go around and buy up every copy I can find.
I suppose another option is to look for cards somewhere other than Walgreens, but it’s the closest store and gas is expensive.
Maybe for 40 I could splurge.

Funny - you have tucked the image of that card in the back of your mind, as a winner in your wife's eyes, and then are drawn to it over and over. Yes - you should drive a little further and buy the prettiest, fanciest, mushiest and most expensive card you can find next time!

I read the title and knew where this was going.

Congratulations! on the anniversary.
And your wife's response strikes me as very gracious. Some wives would complain that getting the same card time after time shows a lack of caring or thoughtful card-buying. In contrast, your wife seems most appreciative. You're a lucky guy!

You know, sometimes you can get a deal on buying several cards. Why not plan ahead?
