An era has passed. Assad has fallen (he might be dead in a plane crash). Russia and Iran — and Hezbollah — are humiliated and weakened as a result. The Turks are ascendant. The US-supported forces... who knows?

This is a Big Deal.

What happens next? Lots of bloodshed, ethnic cleansing, and fleeing refugees and migrants seem quite likely. The world has a new and very real crisis on its hands.

As president-elect Trump posted, I believe on Truth Social, this is not our fight.

A bad and evil man has gone down. I hope and pray what comes next is not worse.

I welcome the humiliation of Iran and Russia.

Syria is a mess with lots of bad people fighting to control the path of future pipelines. There are 200 million Turkic (Turkish and variants) speakers in the area, which is a lot, if they work together.

Reading the stories on the WSJ, the Syrian military was just rolled up.

The opposition obviously picked a good time to take out a weak opponent.

There are reports that Assad's plane went down. I don't wish for anyone's death and I will pray for his soul, but if he is gone, that certainly clears the field.

How soon does the Biden Crime Syndicate start fast-tracking refugees into the US?

I mostly agree, although failed Islamic states have tended to become launching pads for attacks on the US homeland; so it may become our problem in the future.

It's certainly nice to see two of our enemies, Iran and Russia, get humiliated. And it's heart-breaking to see the bloodshed in Syria intensifying, although I don't believe there is anything we can or should do about it.
