Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
I've decided to take a leave of absence from Ricochet ... for one simple reason. My time is no longer under my complete control (and hasn't been for a while now). Yes, I would like to write every day. Sometimes I do ... for about four days. And then something comes up, most commonly offspring-related (even though they're adopted, I still consider them my offspring), usually pertaining to the one who just reached the ripe old age of 24.
Any illusions of returning to my days of daily blogging, as I once managed to do back in the 2010s, have been completely eradicated from my mind.
I've reached the end of myself on this notion, and am now restructuring my aspirations to match my actual life.
It's not all about the sad release of old dreams. There is a new thing on my plate. It's a thing that seems to fit better with reality. It's also a thing requiring significant chunks of time, those chunks of time being readily available ... for mysterious reasons.
The Almighty is always working on us, nudging us away from false beliefs of purpose to those things He has chosen us to do, with Him, for His glory. This is the first time I've felt clearly and unambiguously called to a specific "thing."
I am sad to release my addiction to Ricochet, and I look forward to a return sometime in the near eternity. I love this platform so very much, and I will miss the community. You really are an exceptional people.
I'll be back.
Love,
GLW

Ricochet will miss you. However, there ARE higher priorities than Ricochet. Maybe you could stay, and contribute once every two weeks rather than every day?

I intend to hold you to that promise.
I'll miss you in your brief absence.
See you soon.

Yes. Maybe. But that means actually giving myself permission to not be perfect. When will I ever learn?
But seriously, I will think about it. That approach feels better than not even having the option to comment or post. As you can see, I’m very fickle about this.
