In the last few days, there have been Trump administration officials who have said things that were fairly awful.
Pam Bondi blathering about "hate speech," a thing that conservatives have rightly been arguing for years is not a thing.
Brendan Carr is making threatening noises over content on a talk show, something that conservatives consider none of the government's business.
It's not like these are the only things this administration has done that I'm not thrilled with. TikTok was banned and should not be around anymore. I'm not a fan of tariffs, especially of our allies.
There have been some Ricochet commentators in recent days who have berated people for voting for Trump and bringing about such horrors. Surely, shame is the only correct emotion for Trump voters at this time. If only all conservatives and Republicans in the general election had not voted for Trump but had instead filled in the blank with Ron DeSantis. Or Abe Lincoln. Perhaps for AI Ronald Reagan. Then we wouldn't have that queasy stomach feeling in our stomachs when a Republican official doesn't seem to understand the meaning of the First Amendment. We could really feel good about ourselves, just like some of our local commentators.
The thing is, I'm kind of a one-issue voter at times. If all Republicans and conservative independents had followed the lead of our online sages, we would have been spared a Trump Presidency. Of course, we would have President Harris right now. Who might not be showing all due respect to the First Amendment. But that's not the one issue that's most important to me.
With a President Harris, it's not at all unlikely we would have a nuclear Iran. At this very date.
That's a big issue for me. Not being blown up. So, I'm okay, even with my own complaints about the administration, with our current president.

My one issue in 2016, 2020, and 2024 has been who was the greater evil in the general election. Trump for all of his faults has, for me, been the lesser evil each time and thus been given my vote.
He was never my choice in the primaries but he did win the candidacy of the GOP. So, I voted for him. He performed better than I expected in his first term and has been better in his second. No, he's not perfect. Quite far from it to be honest. But he is far superior to anything the Democrats have put forward. Biden was a nightmare and I can't even imagine the horrors that Hillary would have produced.
No, he isn't George Washington or Lincoln...but he is far superior to Hillary, Vacant Joe, or Kamala.

Kamala Harris would have followed Obama's policies so yeah. Trump does help prevent a nuclear Iran.
