June 23, 1948. Clarence Thomas was born into poverty and segregation in Pin Point, Ga.
Clarence Thomas was abandoned by his father as a child, but had the good fortune to be raised by his hard-working maternal grandfather, Myers Anderson. His grandfather made sure he got a Catholic education, and Clarence became a devout Catholic. He excelled academically and eventually got a JD from Yale.
Thomas was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1991 to replace the late Thurgood Marshall. Although Justice Scalia was the intellectual leader of originalism on the court until his death in 2016, Thomas was always the most courageous originalist on the court. He is the justice most willing to overturn precedents, often writing dissents and concurrences that lay out the intellectual case for an originalist view of the issue. His influence has only increased under Trump, and step by step, he is bringing the American government closer to the structure of government that the Framers had intended.
America is truly blessed to have Clarence Thomas as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.

We need to clone him. Or at least make an A.I. version, so I can chat with someone who is brilliant.

The documentaries made about him are great.

Happy birthday, Clarence! Given his age, I do hope he retires while we have a Republican president. I'd really hate to have him die in office under a President Cory Booker, who might nominate Elizabeth Warren to be the next Supreme Court Justice.
