At our Thanksgiving dinner (we had 22 this year, which is on the smaller side for us), we have the tradition of passing out papers, calling on all the guests to write haikus. We include samples from previous years, and then we select the best from each year to become samples for the next year.
Here they are! Feel free to add your own!

| Where do turkeys go When they die? Apparently It’s in our oven | This is a Haiku It is very bad and wrong I even messed up the… |
| I want you to know I can do it by myself Well, not all the time | All together now The hole in my heart is filled Deepest gratitude |
| As days grow shorter Prepare for hibernation With excess eating | “W” kind of Hogs all of the syllables I think that’s selfish |
| I love to snuggle And to make high-pitched noises It’s good to be 2 | The turkey gobbles And then, in turn, as things go Is, itself gobbled |
| Too hungry to eat A teary and frustrating Toddler conundrum | Lots of guilt to share. What am I doing wrong now? A Jewish mother. |
| Assassination Such a satisfying word With five syllables | Anticipation Excitement, joy and delights Among friends is best |

What a brilliant idea! You can read and hear so many voices. I’ll bet everyone would be able to guess blind who wrote what!

Very nice. I’m sorry you didn’t share this idea earlier so we could have done it. Our first born loves haikus and writes them for special occasions. I hope this makes the main feed so I can share with others.
