Worst Case of TDS On The Planet?

Once upon a time, for a very brief period, one could be a never-Trumper without totally losing the respect of other conservatives. That brief time began when Trump first came down the escalator in June of 2015 and basically ended on election night, November 8, 2016. It was acceptable, though not great, to be a never-Trumper because of Trump’s personality and the unknowns attached to him as an elected politician. After all, there were plenty of things in Trump’s past to indicate he might be too liberal, like having once supported Hillary.

Despite many mistakes during his first term, it quickly became obvious he governed neither as a liberal nor as an establishment Republican, but in fact, was doing things for which red-meat conservatives had been begging for decades. The Republican never-Trumpers who stuck to their guns anyway soon became obvious cranks and then objects of derision. Because of the psychological condition of cognitive dissonance, which is basically the inability to resolve a reality that conflicts with a strong belief, they developed the full-blown psychological condition of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).

One of the most virulent cases of TDS ever observed on earth is the one that has absolutely ravaged the mind of former Republican commentator, Bill Kristol. How bad has it gotten? Well, if his TDS were a physical disease, Kristol would be on his deathbed, wasted away to 98 pounds, barely breathing, with barely a pulse, and a priest would be administering last rites. As a psychological condition, though, it’s made him the equivalent of just another muttering lunatic on the subways or streets of New York, which will soon become more chaotic than ever when Mamdani takes over.

And speaking of Mamdani, when asked during an interview with Claremont McKenna College student newspaper The Forum if he would vote for Mamdani if he lived in New York City, Kristol replied, “You know, I think so.”

Case closed. That should be the final nail in the coffin of Kristol’s destroyed reputation and credibility, when he says out loud in an interview that he would vote for an anti-Semitic Islamic communist if he were able to vote in that election. There is no path of rationalizations or pretzel logic that could lead anyone who ever called himself “conservative” to this place. He has been utterly broken by Trump, and his TDS causes him to support anyone who is anti-Trump, even a commie.

“The idea of going back to Cuomo is just, I think, ridiculous,” Kristol said. Right. But voting for a 33-year-old communist Muslim who grew up in the lap of luxury, never had a real job, and whose policies would destroy the nation’s largest and most important city isn’t ridiculous? Well then, what about voting for Curtis Sliwa? I guess the subject never even came up. Because Sliwa is the Republican. But Kristol isn’t anymore. So, he would vote for the grinning commie.

What exactly is Kristol now, an independent, a Democrat? He makes no such claim, simply calling himself an “ex-Republican.” He is editor-at-large of The Bulwark, whose “About” page says, “The Bulwark was founded to provide analysis and reporting in defense of America’s liberal democracy. That’s it. That’s the mission.” What does that mean? It means . . . Never Trump. And that means all the “analysis” and “reporting” will be intellectually polluted by the taint of TDS.

What about some of the other Democratic candidates around the country in this election cycle, Mr. Kristol?

“I live in Virginia. So, Abigail Spanberger, who I think will win in November, is really excellent.”

Yeah, she’s really great, alright. This woman running for governor of Virginia doesn’t know what a woman is, but who cares? The main thing is she hates Trump, so . . .

And Mikie Sherrill, a leftist running for governor of New Jersey who said Charlie Kirk was racist, misogynistic and a Christian nationalist. Also “excellent,” according to Kristol.

In fact, Kristol said, “I think a lot of the younger Democrats are quite impressive.”

Do tell.

And then there was this interview with Boston Public Radio, during which he said:

“The party has really been transformed. This is not just a 30-degree or a 50-degree alteration. This is not moving a little in this direction or that direction. This isn’t just different from [the past] but really repudiates so much of the Bush, McCain, Romney Republican Party.”

Yes, exactly! Because those guys were a bunch of pathetic, milquetoast go-alongs who did absolutely nothing to fight back against the leftist/Marxist assault on our values and everything that ever made America great. Endless-wars Bush, Gang-of-Eight McCain, Romneycare Romney: establishment Republicans to the core. They were all-in on our managed decline and scared to death of offending the left, which was gaining all cultural power. Guys like that, who never had the guts to stand up to the left, are the very reason we ended up with Trump.

If there was anything left of Kristol’s conservative values, even if he didn’t like Trump’s personality, wouldn’t he find something to be happy about in the policies and thwarting the left’s evil designs? I mean, wouldn’t he? Just a little bit? Wouldn’t a neocon have absolutely swooned over Trump’s defanging of Iran? Or can a true neocon settle for nothing less than a full-scale invasion?

All we know is he praises, supports and votes for those whose leftist, anti-American policies will destroy us if they are allowed to continue. It looks like he’s going down with the Never Trump ship, no matter what. TDS has so completely ravaged the grey matter inside his skull that he’s become the intellectual equivalent of that ridiculous Karen who was videoed screaming into the sky after Trump’s first election in 2016.

What a sad, ignominious way to end a career.

There are a few others who are competing for the worst case of TDS, but Kristol is definitely in the running.

This TDS that you spoke about in the first paragraph has become a real disease........I know people with it and it's worse than ever.

Trump has endorsed Cuomo. Is he being unprincipled, or realistic? Is half a loaf better than none? Trump seems to think that he can work with Cuomo, but not with Mamdani. My instinct would have been to keep quiet and let the people of NYC decide on their own, but I don't pretend to be a politician.

I could not possibly care less about Bill Kristol (and never have), and I wonder why anyone does, but I do enjoy a full-throated @GregStrange rant. So thank you!
