Perhaps it was only a matter of time. In Minneapolis an agitator from Colorado who was leading an effort to impede ICE officers from doing their job was shot and killed by a federal law enforcement officer who feared for being run down by the woman as she accelerated her Honda SUV at him. The officer shot the woman through the windshield and killed her. The beleaguered and incompetent Minnesota Governor Tim Walz took to the microphones later that day to announce that he had put the Minnesota National Guard on notice to confront and presumably attack ICE and other federal law enforcement officials if they attempt to proceed with their mission to find illegal alien criminals in the state.

From Fox News (emphasis mine):

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said Wednesday the state's National Guard was prepared to deploy if necessary following the fatal shooting of a woman during a federal immigration enforcement operation, saying, "We've never been at war with our federal government."

During a news conference, Walz said he issued a warning order to the Guard, meaning an initial step to increase preparations should troops be needed amid heightened tensions after Wednesday's shooting.

"We are preparing the National Guard," he said. "They are prepared to be deployed if necessary."

Now, if my recollection of history is correct, the state of Minnesota has never been at war with the federal government, instead preferring lately to ignore and perhaps facilitate the rampant fraud that has been stealing federal taxpayers’ money – but Democrats in the South certainly have been at war with the federal government in the past in this little skirmish called the Civil War that cost some 600,000 American lives and the devastation of cities and towns.

One could make an argument that Democrat plantation owners and industrialists seceded from the Union in 1861 and engaged in insurrection because they wanted to preserve their industry supported by slave labor. Not really an honorable or ethically sound cause, especially given that Britain had eliminated the slave trade almost three decades before the Civil War.

This new “disagreement” between predominantly Democrat-controlled Minnesota and the federal government seems to also rest on very ethically vacant grounds – to block the federal government from finding illegal aliens engaged in criminal activity like murder, rape, narcotics trafficking, racketeering, sex trafficking, and a plethora – yes, a plethora – of fraudulent businesses stealing taxpayer money.

Walz’s announcement had a certain insurrectionist tone to it, though he did refrain from emitting a shrieking rebel yell, so there is that. Would the Minnesota National Guard obey General Stone-Walz's order to confront and possibly engage with federal law enforcement officers or federal troops? Is Walz being honest about putting the Minnesota Guard on alert? Or is this the bluff of a very frightened and cornered man, who may not only be removed as governor but possibly face prison time if it’s found that he was complicit in the rampant fraud that occurred in his state?

Stock up on popcorn. It’s only going to get more entertaining.

    Democrat plantation owners and industrialists

The plantation now a childless daycare and the industry is fraud.

The weather in Minneapolis will be "mild" for the next week.

I guess Walz still wants to do some campaigning, just not the sort we thought.

Is an order to a member of the National Guard to inhibit or attack a Federal officer in the performance of his duty a legal order under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ)? Is the National Guard subject to the UCMJ when they are not Federally mobilized? I was in the Air National Guard a long time ago and received UCMJ training as part of Basic, but I don't recall how or whether this was addressed. The Dems recently made a big deal about not following illegal orders. Seems they are being hypocritical as usual.

This is exactly the argument I choose to apply to the induction and mustering of my second-great grandfather into the Madison County (Georgia) Greys in July 1861. He died at Yorktown, Va. in the Peninsula Campaign in 1862.

I doubt the people of Minnesota will be as easily duped as the farmers and ranchers of the agricultural South in 1861. Even back then most of those who lived in what we call the Blue Ridge Mountains were not supportive of the conflict and the separate state of West Virginia was established as a result.

I do think many younger Americans today are ignorant of many of America's founding principles and the progress made against any deficiencies and this is largely due to the socialistic influences imposed in our public education system through the creation of the federal Department of Education and the alternative history produced by the socialist movement.

Perhaps Senator Kelly could opine about defying illegal orders in this instance...

Perhaps the order should be qualified--you only have to protect illegals from ICE if they have sponged or stolen less government money than you are paid as a National Guardsman...

    Walz is a buffoon.
