It makes sense to have a Plan B when we fail to reach the original objective of our efforts. In a political campaign as important as the 2024 American Presidential campaign and with the level and range of efforts by organized opposition to deny success in that campaign to the people's choice, Donald J. Trump, Trump supporters should have a Plan B. My own thought is that means more than I will simply support and vote for the Republican Party nominee because some in that role will not draw all or even most of Trump supporters. When I look at the possibles and examine positions and sample what these candidates say in their public appearances, Vivek Ramaswamy gets my support as my Plan B choice.

In the 2016 campaign I originally supported Ted Cruz but I examined all the others and particularly Trump because he was new to the fray and came with new and different ideas. I liked what we got in his performance as POTUS and he still has my support for 2024. But I need a backup plan and a candidate. No active candidate appears viable against Trump in the polls at this point but as we enter the primary season DeSantis, Haley, and Ramaswamy are the leading candidates. Reviewing the results of various interviews, public appearances, and campaign statements and fitting those to my own preferences and what I perceive as the preferences of those supporting Donald Trump, Ramaswamy is the best fit and I have been impressed by his ability to demonstrate a problem-solving analytical mentality when challenged with questions on the campaign trail. Here is a recent example in a link from RedState.com:

WATCH: Vivek Has Fascinating Response to Pastor About Racism at Town Hall

Ramaswamy tops my list as a Plan B candidate at this time.

Trump has been very impressive with his staying power against all odds. There is no way for any of us to know how well any other candidate will hold up under the kind of attacks levied against Trump, but Vivek seems to have an understanding of where our country has gone wrong. If Trump regains the Presidency, Ramaswamy has skills and the political perspective to be helpful in those years.

That was an incredible video clip. Thank you for sharing it. Vivek is a really impressive guy. I've winced at some of the things he's said on the campaign trail that make me think he hasn't thought long or deeply about politics, and especially about international relations.

But seeing his response to this - almost nine minutes of off the cuff speaking on a really sensitive and divisive topic - I am impressed. I saw a similar clip recently of him fielding a question about LGBTQ issues. His response in both clips had a lot of depth and he articulated big truths in simple and relatable ways. He connects really well in a setting where he has an intimate audience and he's answering voter's questions.

There is no way a Chris Christie, Nikki Haley, or Mike Pence could do what he did in that clip. Trump couldn't either, for that matter. Trump connects with individual voters in a different way. Vivek showed a lot of depth and thoughtfulness there that he doesn't show on the debate stage where he's trying to fit in as many zingers as possible.

I continue to support Trump and believe he will easily walk away with the nomination. But I hope Vivek will stay engaged in politics after the primary is over. I like the cut of his jib.

Thanks. You covered some important points not in my post content including emphasizing how he and Trump arrive close to the same destination but by different means.

By process of self-elimination, Vivek is my Plan B as well. RDS is turning a blind eye to lawfare. Nikki is a forever war fan. Christie is embracing lawfare. We coalesced behind an unknown in Trump in 2016 and his policies by and large were good and the world relatively peaceful with his prompting. Vivek is an unknown but the knowns are not appealing.

What Trump and Vivek have in common is that they listen to and then answer an actual question with an answer to the question asked. They don’t reply with a script which doesn’t answer the question and may not even be on point. That takes a tremendous amount of patience and intention. Active listening. Vivek gives good examples of it. Others don’t bother and it shows fundamental disregard for the constituent.

I've also seen that Vivek conducts extensive research interviews with experienced people in areas and on subjects that are important in his run for office where he may be knowledge deficient.
