Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
The Democrat Party is losing support among lots of demographic groups: blue-collar workers, blacks, Hispanics, men, rural residents, and so on. Powerline linked to a New York Times article that pointed out that the Republican Party’s share of the vote has increased in each of the past three presidential elections in close to half the counties in America — 1,433 in all. Democrats have increased their vote share in those three elections in only 57 of the nation’s 3,100-plus counties. The Democrats are steadily losing support among lots of different groups of people.
One group that has become increasingly supportive of Democrats, however, is young women. Young women appear to be undergoing lots of transformational changes over the past 10-15 years. A 2022 Gallup poll found that 38% of young liberal women identify as LGBT. The #metoo movement made many young women distrustful of men in general, even if they'd had no bad experiences with men themselves, as this young woman explained:
"I think I’m at an interesting age where the #MeToo movement was going on during some very formative years. Like I said, I’m only 21, so #MeToo was very high school for me, so I think luckily I had that all over social media to kind of shape the way I look at dating and men. And allow me to use other people’s experiences to form a sense of like putting a guard up almost."
For whatever reason, young liberal women took this messaging to heart more than young conservative women did. Only 32% of young liberal women say they are satisfied with how women are treated in American society, versus 70% of young conservative women. Of course, liberals tend to be more likely to shun religion, marriage, family, and other things that give people purpose and fulfillment in life, so perhaps they just naturally have a more negative view of life in general.
But still, young liberal women appear to be really struggling right now. They're miserable. And they are one of the very few groups that are increasing their support of Democrats.
What bothers me about all this is that many of the things that are making young women depressed (#metoo, politicization of sexual identity, atheism, avoiding marriage and children, resentment of men, etc.) are causes that Democrats push. Which leads women to believe that they need the support of the Democrat Party.
So the Democrats intentionally make people miserable, just to get their votes, so Democrats can gain power: "Who cares if young women are depressed and suicidal? Now we can pass bigger spending bills! Yay!" They're destroying people's lives just to gain political power.
That's evil. I don't use that word very much. But in this case, I can't think of another word.
I look at happy teenagers, at a ball game or out on dates, laughing with their friends. I wonder what the Democrat Party has to offer them?
All Democrats have to offer is misery. Because if you're not miserable, why would you vote Democrat? At least, that appears to be what Democrats think.
I don't see how this is a promising plan for growth, for a national political party.
And I don't see how Democrat leaders can give speeches trying to stoke resentment and fear among young women, and then go home and sleep at night.
I just don't understand.
But evil can sometimes be difficult to understand.

According to Mallory Millet (sister of Kate Millet, a "defining architect of second wave feminism" and author of "the Bible of women's liberation" and one of the founders of N.O.W.) that was always the plan.

(Kate Millet also had a hand in the "deinstitutionalization" movement, with similarly disastrous results:

Love that, Doc. It makes me laugh, even though you probably didn't intend to be funny. I went to the grocery store with my wife this morning. Standing outside with a clipboard was a guy who has become somewhat infamous in my town. He has for years come here to advocate for some liberal cause or another, most of which include increasing taxes. I say, he comes here because he doesn't live in our town, not even in our state. He has been promoting his causes for decades. My wife and I laughed when we saw him as we entered the store. Upon leaving, a man walks out in front of us and says to the aforementioned antagonist, "What do you got? I'll sign it." He was ready to sign anything because he knew it would be a protest against something. This is the unhappy liberal mind in action. As you said, "All Democrats have to offer is misery." And, misery loves company.

It's because the Democrats "feel their pain," right after inflicting it.

"Democrats love poor people. That's why they've created so many of them."

One could argue that this is tautological. More and more it seems that identifying as LGBTQ+ is a prerequisite for being allowed to identify as a "liberal".
