I have been advocating for years that the US should give no foreign aid to Israel. Not because such aid fails to deliver results in the interests of both countries, but because each should stand on its own two feet and not even give the hint of the shadow of the corruption that results from "aid." And lookee here!
Ahead of the meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump at the end of the month in Florida, very senior figures close to Netanyahu are formulating a plan for Israel's disengagement from American aid and a transition to a new model. X
Yes, American "aid" usually entails weapons deals that give Americans jobs. But the PR battle is not worth fighting. Let's go!

I get your point, but Aid to Israel actually benefits the USA.

Sure. But it is red meat to those who hate Jews.
And yes, I know that hating Jews does not have to have any real basis in fact. But if ending aid means that even a small sliver of Americans who might be swayed by facts would end up having less anger toward Jews, then I am delighted to have it go bye-bye.
Israel and America can trade on equal footing, as befits independent nations.

I think 20% of government spending is corruption. It looks like US aid to Israel is just another way to use tax money to generate a tiny amount of profit for a few US companies. Maybe it is not that, but it looks like it. Let's start with Ukraine and work are way down the list to Yemen.

I agree with iWe’s assertion that US aid to Israel should now end, and that Israel should now ascend to the rank of the free and independent nations of civilized society, from its current status of ward of America.
We should become morally equal military and diplomatic allies in the struggle against the evil axis of leftism and terrorist Islam, and end the relation of benefactor to dependent.

I get the point and don’t disagree - but color me skeptical that our funding of Ukraine is 100% “economic,” although I know their “economy” is significantly USA cash money supporting government. And the millions to Afghanistan? Somalia? Yemen?Makes me sick.
