Rejecting traditional morality likewise allows the anointed to believe that, all over the world, millions of people of every race, creed and nationality have for thousands of years been hopelessly mistaken in thinking that moral codes are necessary for the survival of civilization—a mistake to be corrected by the newly minted wisdom of the zeitgeist. Thomas Sowell, The Vision of the Anointed
In conservative circles, we are continually talking about the rule of the elite in this country. But Thomas Sowell has beheld the aims of the elite and explained beautifully how they have managed to cow and convince us that they know best. Or at least we act as if we believe them. And of course, they are supported by those who think they are also part of the elite and will dismiss any views we have to the contrary.
The anointed are convinced that their wisdom is superior to those of us who don’t agree with them; they think we challenge their conclusions out of ignorance, naivete, stupidity, stubbornness or because we are evil. They will do their best to convince us of their positions, not through facts or evidence, but through remarks that demonstrate their brilliance. Those remarks tend to be general, meaningless and non-substantive, but to the anointed, they sound profound. I refer you to Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson as the epitome of the voice of the anointed.
So, they are offering us their wisdom to decide what is moral and what is not: Now wouldn’t you appreciate their ruling on eliminating I.C.E.? How about transgenderism? Or letting criminal aliens go free?

Stupid or evil. Sometimes both at the same time as with Bush Jr. who was cast as an idiot puppet and a war criminal mastermind. What is impossible to their minds is that we can see things differently than they do - in good faith.

And when we're not convinced? They ultimately resort to violence when name-calling and cancel culture doesn't work . . .

So true. The alarming stupidity of our "elites" makes one thing clear. Stupidity is a choice.

I always like to hear from the civil engineer that a bridge is safe or not. I just don't have the ken for that.
Similarly, if a doctor of medicine with decades of experience in viruses tells me it's not worth wearing a mask, I expect that doctor knows better than I.
Regarding morality, I will seriously consider the minister's teaching as long as she doesn't present with purple hair.

Aha! Purple hair is where you draw the line!
If you're sincere, Chris, I guess I'm not as trusting as I used to be. Too many people have an agenda or an ulterior motive and are willing to lie to protect it. Don't I sound cynical?
