I admit I am stunned. Out of France, incredibly, comes a report ordered by the French Senate, analyzing the practice of transitioning adolescent patients with gender dysphoria.

The bottom line conclusion: This practice is the one of the greatest ethical scandals in the history of medicine.

I did not think I would live to see the day when some official body actually spoke or wrote the truth about this subject. The French are calling for a ban on transgender treatment of minors. The British have already instituted such a ban, and have closed the main clinic, the Tavistock clinic, engaging in this treatment. This was done after a review was undertaken that revealed the abuses at that clinic.

There is no good evidence that treatment of minors diagnosed with gender dysphoria is of any benefit. There is evidence that it is harmful. Evidence of benefit has been claimed in its absence; evidence of harm has been either ignored or suppressed.

The US is the country most avidly pursuing transitioning of minors. That, I am afraid, will not change. It is too much of a political cause celebre'. Democrats will abandon Biden long before they will abandon their ideology on transgenderism, particularly that of transitioning minors. That is because it is fundamental to the political ideology of the Left; one that aims to destroy the family and the society that is built on the fundamental family unit in favor of a totalitarian regime that controls all aspects of life. America not only insists on allowing minors to transition, America threatens parents if they interfere. The Law is applied punitively against parents who do not consent to the treatment, or the parents are excluded from the process altogether.

Adolescents are cognitively incapable of giving informed consent — the bedrock of medical treatment, except in this one area, the transitioning of minors. Transitioning is being done without medical ethical consideration at all. This gives us an indication of how much of a deranged political ideology is at the core of the practice. We have gone beyond De Sade. Far beyond De Sade. We have proclaimed that what is evil is good.

The Endocrine Society guidelines for managing transgender adolescents include the acknowledgement that the evidence for treatment is poor (essentially, nonexistent), nonetheless the Society advocates such treatment. The Endocrine Society is an ethically bankrupt organization. Sadly, it is my professional organization. It has been a paragon of science in medicine. Now it enters the medical hall of shame along with such figures as Dr. Mengele and the Nazis, along with those advocating forced sterilization of the "unfit," the Eugenicists. And that, sorry to say, is not an overstatement. Personally, I will cease to be a member until the Endocrine Society advocates a ban on transitioning minors.

Efficacy is claimed where there is no evidence of efficacy, no measure of outcomes. Though we hear endlessly that denying puberty blockers to transgender adolescents leads to suicide, there is no evidence of that. According to the French evaluation there is evidence of harm. Permanent harm. The eternal hippocratic medical dictum to first do no harm is no longer accepted by American medicine. America now practices medicine in this field under a completely hypocritical ethical standard. And worse.

Who would have guessed that Matt Walsh would have greater moral insight than the entirety of the American Medical system.

Europe contributed mightily toward fostering this nonsense -- and, increasingly, seems to be leading us out of it.

I think it was the Dutch that started us on this path. But, as with Eugenics (courtesy of the British, eg, Francis Galton), America seems to become the foremost expositor and practitioner (although the Nazis surpassed us at our Eugenics effort) of what is most perverse.

I hope so. But as I recall it, this was an American export and Europeans decided to run with scalpels. At least I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll have a bit more luck pointing out the moderation of European restrictions relative to the US on this issue than we have on abortion.

    Anyway, this is good news!

With socialized medicine such clinics were cost centers. In the US they have become very profitable profit centers. I expect serious resistance to any restrictions in the US. The people who work there and promote these mutilations are hideous human beings. Maybe worse than those who promote abortions. But there is money - a lot of it - being made. And the Feds want more of it seemingly.
