FIRST READING: Canada told mentally ill must be euthanized lest they kill themselves
A leading MAID advocate argued to parliamentarians last month that Canada must legalize assisted suicide for the mentally ill, lest those same patients commit suicide.
The statement was made at a March 24 parliamentary committee debating the legalization of MAID for Canadians whose “sole underlying medical condition is a mental illness.”
How is that a win? We euthanize the mentally ill to prevent them from committing suicide? It's like the old joke about the cop who shot a man threatening to jump. It used to be that the desire to end life was the first and strongest sign of mental illness. Now it's just another syndrome with a cheap, quick, permanent treatment?
I think this just demonstrates how enthusiasticly inhumane Liberals are
There are only two medical services in the entire country that do not have wait times or wait lists. Abortion and MAID...
They're killing this society with their economic, trade and immigration policies. And as a backup plan, killing us all individually to reduce medical treatment costs.

But of course that's not all of the story. The UK and Canada promised to supply free medical care to all its citizens, then virtually took away their right to get private medical care, then ran the whole industry into the ground so that it takes 18 months for a knee replacement or for a scan of a new brain tumor. And so to save people in grave and painful medical conditions from the uncertainty and discomfort of this long wait they open their office visits by offering same-day euthanasia. Brilliant.

It’s never been a defense to a charge of murder that the victim wanted to be murdered. I guess that’s changing, but I wonder what laws permitting euthanasia say about this.

So . . .
In order to prevent suicide we must encourage suicide.
People with mental illness are often (if not always) incapable of reacting rationally to the world around them So let's encourage them to decide to end their lives.
Why do I sense a monumental failure of logic here?
