The backlash over the settlement of Northwestern University with pro-Palestinian protesters continues to mount. In a letter acquired by The Daily Northwestern, seven out of 11 members of the “President’s Advisory Committee on Preventing Antisemitism and Hate” resigned this week in protest. Under the controversial agreement, the school will admit five Palestinian students each year, support two Palestinian faculty members annually, create special housing for Muslim students, and add students to Committees to review purchases from Israeli businesses. The resigning committee members criticized NU President Michael Schill’s failure to seek advice from the committee regarding the agreement. The Anti-Defamation League criticized the deal, writing: “Instead of holding the perpetrators accountable, the university rewarded them. It would be unbelievable if it wasn’t true.” Brown University has also been the target of criticism over its settlement with protesters, including a pledge by Brown President Christina Paxson to consider the divestment from all Israeli businesses. Rutgers may be the next flashpoint for such criticism after agreeing this week to all but two demands by protesters…

To me, this shows two things. First, that the administration at these institutions is every bit as antisemitic and Marxist as the “protestors,” which is beyond sad. And second, that administrators are more than willing to play wet nurse to a gaggle of immature know-nothings who get their news from Tik-Tok and stage phony “hunger strikes,” which is also beyond sad. At the very least, these colleges should have said: Get your stuff completely off the damned quad within two hours and then, after a few weeks for you to show that you can behave like adults, maybe we can have a reasoned discussion about why your knickers are in a twist. But you only get a seat at the table. Opposing viewpoints will also be represented. And you will be expected to behave like a reasonable human being instead of shouting about “intifada” when you don’t even know what it means.
My daughter is socially liberal, although fiscally moderate-to-conservative. (Not leftist, liberal. And to tell you the truth, I can be liberal on some issues.) And I’m glad that she went to a small Christian college that taught her to examine issues from many angles, and that the country is worth our respect. So I’ll say this: If your kid is approaching college-age, be very, very careful. View the veneer of the Ivies and large state schools with extreme skepticism. They are no longer learning institutions in many instances. They are indoctrination centers.

Will the children of suicide bombers get early admission and a qualification waiver? But would that be unfair to offspring/active members of Boko Haram, Tamil Tigers, or Shining Path? The IRA has killed more white people than the great majority of terrorist organizations, so shouldn't that count?
We should regard the complete gutlessness of university administrators as a common resource to be exploited fairly by all deserving claimants in direct proportion to their capacity and willingness to hurt people.

I'm glad you made this point conditionally. I do not understand why students have a seat at the table at all when it comes to university policy. If that's been "traditional," it was stupid to allow. No negotiations.
I guess I understand resigning in protest, but it seems to me that the wrong people are resigning. Doesn't this just leave behind a contingent of pro-HamasNazis on the advisory board? This is how we end up with a far-left Academia: the good people leave and the bad people stay.

A form of the Curley Effect. Same thing with big cities, and blue states...

Let's move the Overton Window and start closing down departments that grant degrees in fields that do not have a strong employment market.
FYI, did you see that U CA system will now do admissions to STEP dept based on having a parent with college degrees? It is betting to be that even the "credential" of a college degree is meaningless.
