Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
If Britain is on the brink of catastrophic upheaval - civil unrest, massive riots, or worse - then it will be due in large part to the reflexive urge not to be honest with what's been happening for the past two or more decades.
When it's required to refer to Middle Eastern Islamists as "Asians" on news and entertainment programs or Pakistani rapist gangs as simply "asylum seekers," and then quash any thorough investigation on why thousands of rapists went unpunished; when the "science" of Climate Change or Climate Catastrophe is never challenged and assumed to be "settled," even by successive Tory governments; when the British public are forced to pay for the BBC that repeatedly and consistently lies and offers glowing reports on tyrannical regimes like the IRGC; when the current prime minister wants to effectively ban free speech on X, where subscribers call out the dishonesty and rot of the British establishment, by claiming X's Grok AI tool shouldn't create (satirical or humorous) images of public figures in bikinis, states of undress, or in compromising scenarios; when Brits who express any sort of patriotism by flying the Union Jack or the St. George's flag are called Nazis, far-right, and worse; when Brits are arrested for quietly praying, wearing Jewish symbols, when Christians are prevented from holding marches while Islamists are granted permission to do the same...then yes...at some point all hell is about to break loose.
Of course, there may never be a fight to save Britain. It may soon be lost, and all her history, treasures and traditions will be destroyed.

I doubt there will be a fight. My guess is that there will simply be continued decay, slow but steady. I think of C.S. Lewis's observation: "We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful."

We were just talking about this at lunch. It’s heinous. I pray for some descendants of Robert the Bruce or William Wallace or Donald MacDonald or Wolfe Tone or even earlier Vikings to really rise up and take Britain back. @She may have better hero models but right now it seems bleak.

I see no signs that it will get better, Brian, only worse. BTW, the photo of George Orwell's house is perfect!

You may be right about the lack of a fight. But I think your second sentence may be mistaken.
I think Britain is past the slow, steady decay part. I think this is going to happen quick.
In fact, I think it's already happened. People are just now beginning to notice.
The loss of the UK is a tragedy.

No one should expect Great Britain to be a defender of the Western Civilization that they spread throughout the world in the 18th and 19th centuries. Great Britain abandoned that role many decades ago. And may even be abandoning Western Civilization and Anglo culture altogether. By choice.
