Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
I had a momentary frisson of excitement when I read that Alexandria Ocasio Cortez had recently tweeted the following:
Crimenutely, thought I. Has She, Herself, suddenly gone Unwoke and (by association) joined the ranks of the unwashed? And will her fellow Squad members take the hint?
Well--at least in the second instance--it's a hard "No."
It didn't take Ilhan Omar (whose instinct is always to Blame Israel First) very long to retweet a photo of several small children wrapped not in swaddling clothes, but in body bags, with the caption "CHILD GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE." (The original tweet, which Omar retweeted, was from someone calling himself Sulaiman Ahmed. I'll spare you the graphic, but you can look it up.)
Unfortunately for Omar and Jew-haters everywhere, the children in the photo turned out to be the victims of a 2013 Syrian chemical weapons attack--probably the one in which Assad unleashed sarin nerve gas on Syrian civilians in a suburb of Damascus--and nothing to do with Israel at all. (I am under the impression that Omar has since deleted her retweet of this libel.)
It's hard to find bits of humor or irony, even dark humor or dark irony, in the current situation. But the fact that the October 7th Terror-Deniers have to reach back a decade, into another country, and into another war, in order to find distressing photographs of dead children which they can then blame--falsely and in ill-faith--on the activities of the Israeli Defense Forces in Gaza in October of 2023 might be one of them.
Shameful.

If those people were capable of shame, they wouldn't do what they do.

Disgusting. But not surprising.

I don't want to shock you, @She, but AOC is not a nice person. And not a terribly bright one when it comes to rational thinking.

No worries. At this point in my life, I am unshockable.
