Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
Headline--and not from The Babylon Bee:
I got a smile when I first read that. I had seen the news that the Special Counsel's report on this had just come out and that there would be no charges. As Gomer Pyle would have said... and you know the rest.
However, here is some of the actual language from the report. One word I would use, among the many which come to mind that are not suitable for polite company: Astonishing. Simply astonishing.
Citing Biden's age and memory, the report states a jury would not find him guilty."We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during out interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory," the report states. "Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone for whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt. It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness."
"Mr. Biden's memory was significantly limited, both during his recorded interviews with the ghostwriter in 2017, and in his interview with our office in 2023. And his cooperation with our investigation, including by reporting to the government that the Afghanistan documents were in his Delaware garage, will likely convince some jurors that he made an innocent mistake, rather than acting willfully-that is, with intent to break the law-as the statute requires," the report states.
The report, which spans hundreds of pages, shows tattered boxes full documents in Biden's Wilmington, Delaware garage and in a downtown Washington D.C. office. His son, Hunter Biden, had regular access to the information. The younger Biden does not have a security clearance and has been charged with multiple felonies for tax evasion. The documents include sensitive information about foreign policy and other military operations.
Would it be engaging in the dread exercise of whataboutism to wonder if there was another name in that report?
No... surely that would not make a scintilla of difference, would it? After, all Equal Justice Under Law, right?

It's a shame it is not.
He's too old to charge for mishandling classified information, but not too old to run the U.S. government.
Got it.
I mean, I see what they're doing here. They had to come up with some excuse for the double standard. But they kind of shot themselves in the foot in the process.

Sounds like the younger Biden is a valid target for prosecution on this matter. If not now, maybe under the next president.

Yes, but with what we must have paid that "Special" Counsel one would think they could have been at least a little more creative than telling what we already know, that he is a doddering, slobbering old fool. Pathetic.
