Many of us approach the end of this year with mixed feelings. We might tend to see the negative, such as the persistence of the Ukraine/Russia war, the most recent deaths of law enforcement officers or members of our military, the slow recovery of our economy.
But I realized this morning that there are many activities and people who inspire me, and I want to spend the rest of this year and the coming year focusing on those:
I’m sure I could identify more inspirations, but I’d like to hear about yours.
What inspires you?

What a profound question. You have listed some actual people and some archetypes that inspire admiration and introspection about how you are living your life. But there is also another dimension in which someone can inspire your imagination and philosophic inquiry about that structures that underlie everything. And those two do intersect to the extent that people you admire are engaging in behaviors that bring your life into closer resonance with the underlying structure.
I am drawn to your and other’s posts on Ricochet that have this characteristic — exploring the structure and becoming personally resonant.

That there are still songs to be sung, bells to be rung, and flings to be flung.

I think you were wingin' it on that last one, G.

No, ma'am. Behold the relevant portion from the delectable song "You Make Me Feel So Young" (bolding mine), ...
"...
You make me feel so young
You make me feel there are songs to be sung,
Bells to be rung,
And a wonderful fling to be flung ..."
Made famous by Frank Sinatra, of course, but I do enjoy listening to the cheery playfulness of the Sinatra/Aznavour duet version of it every now and then:

That was fun! And I stand corrected.
