Can you imagine what a taste of even Russian living will do to the minds of 100,000 North Korean soldiers who have been told, their entire lives, that they have it better than anyone else on the planet?

As @Kozak put it in this post:

Soviet citizens that were repatriated from the German Reich at the end of the Second World War were shipped directly to Siberia. Because they had seen too much of the West, and could not be propagandized anymore.

If North Korea's leadership does not recognize the danger, then it could do the regime in.

Yet here we are: North Korea may deploy as many as 100,000 troops to aid Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Wouldn't it be nuts if Putin's invasion of Ukraine led to the internal collapse of North Korea?

Collapse, or just an opening. We've seen it with China and then the USSR. Let's pray for the people of NK.

In this nutbar world it is more than plausible. With the suffering endured by the people of NK, it is a consummation devoutly to be wished.

There have been "guest workers" from NK in Russia for years. As I understand it, they are segregated and heavily supervised. But that might be breaking down. Apparently, the Norks have unprecedented access to the internet from Russia, at least compared to the access they had back home. That could be a problem later on.

    Indeed.

My solutions for "fixing" North Korea have always been to airdrop a combination of goodies: guns, ammo, snickers bars, and a South Korean people magazine equivalent.

But Russian porn might just do the job all by itself.

Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
