So today we have a dude who drove a pickup into a crowd on Bourbon Street, killing ten people; shot at cops, wounding two; and was then apparently shot dead by police. The bodies are still warm and the FBI assistant SAC for New Orleans says the FBI is taking over the investigation, but that it was not a terror attack.
Isn't that what an investigation is for? Why come out and say it’s not terrorism now?
I typed this around 0830 this morning and then had to be on the road until just now. Apparently now the Feds are admitting there may be more than one actor and talking about ties to ISIS, etc.
Why did this supervisory agent come out of the blocks so hard that it wasn’t terrorism, when multiple indicators said it certainly could be? We are talking in another conversation about how public health officials destroyed their credibility during COVID, and here is the FBI looking even more stupid than it has since the long anti-Trump campaign started in 2016.

I was surprised by the immediate overt denial of a terror attack rather than some boilerplate about an ongoing investigation. Apparently, FBI DEI training makes it more important to avoid an accusation of "Islamophobia " than to get it right.
