Insurrection: Ashley Babbitt, Renee Good and Beyond

The percentage of people who know the story of Ashley Babbitt is fairly low. She was the only person killed in the J6 demonstration, an unarmed veteran in no way threatening the life of an officer. She was just damaging property by breaking a window. The left had no concern about her life being lost. In fact, the little attention they paid to her, it was along the lines of how they treated the assassination of Charlie Kirk: “she deserved it.” I wrote a bit about her in this post.

January 6th was a single-day event that never spread across the country, and there was no encouragement from Trump, Republicans or conservatives for it to do so. Hundreds were arrested and charged with assault, interfering with a government proceeding, interference with officers, trespassing, etc. Nobody was charged with “insurrection” … because the prosecutors knew it was hopeless to make that charge stick. Truth makes no difference to the narrative creators, however. The general interpretation is that it was a “dangerous insurrection,” and the Democrats/media work to reinforce that lie every year, so “it” never happens again. Sadly, the real version IS happening right now!

Renee Good, on the other hand, was specifically interfering with federal officers attempting to enforce immigration law. There will be endless arguments about whether she was using her vehicle as a lethal weapon, but the fact that she hit the officer with the vehicle makes it a bit hard to claim his life was not in danger. Yet while, in the case of Ashly Babbitt, such interference validated her killing in the minds of the left, Good's death is being described as “murder.” This sort of crazed insistence on differential justice is what creates and deepens divisions that are the path to tribal violence. As Lenin said, “The worse the better.”

Multiple Democrats, and especially multi-billion-dollar fraud enabler Tim Walz, are actively encouraging “resistance” (criminal obstruction) of ICE officers carrying out their jobs. Walz has reason to hope the violence will take the spotlight off his failures and keep him out of prison. He has called out the MN National Guard to aid in the obstruction.

Democrats have basically declared war on the federal government, and it isn’t just in Minnesota...it is spreading. An “insurrection” is “a violent uprising against a government.” The Democrats did their best to stretch a mostly peaceful demonstration (nothing was burned, only a demonstrator was killed, and nobody got a free TV) into an assault on democracy itself. Okay. If J6 was an insurrection - worse than Pearl Harbor, a dangerous threat to their “Democracy” (America is a Republic), a day that needs to be always remembered, etc. - what do we call the violent resistance to ICE? If J6 was an insurrection, this is a rapidly escalating Civil War.

In 1962, federal marshals were called out to defend James Meredith (a black man) from attempting to attend the University of Mississippi. (The link takes you to an article where Robert F. Kennedy is quoted describing how bad that situation was.) While the state police deserted the federal officers in that situation, it appears that the MN police may stand up for the law. We can only pray. If a nationwide tragedy is to be avoided, the Democrats need to respect the “rule of law” they crow so much about and actually encourage obedience to civil authorities, rather than pushing for more escalation.

While Democrats find historical comparisons to be invalid (they like to repeat things that have failed many times … like Socialism, because history exposes them), this is worth consideration for those who don’t want to be doomed to repeat failure.

What can patriotic Americans do? For one thing, get very active in this off-year election! The Democrats, the media and their foreign supporters are going to invest billions as part of their attempt to take control of the levers of government, and we know from experience what they will do if they are successful. All efforts will be focused on attacking Trump, Republicans, pro-lifers, gun owners, taxpayers, the economy and anything else they can attack to create chaos. Remember, “the worse the better.”

We need to back all forms of patriotic law enforcement. While Republicans tend to be too busy working, raising families, attending church services - you know, living decent lives - it is time to be proactive in supporting immigration officers. Encourage your local, county and state enforcement agencies to contact ICE to back them up. Insurrectionist organizations are flooding all types of media to organize their shock troops to target ICE and their families. We need to pull together and develop a modern underground railroad that aids and protects the government in its fight against the forces of insurrection.

I wish I had more positive ways to combat the anti-government forces, and I will keep looking. In the meantime, PRAY for law enforcement and their families!

If nothing else was going on outside and Ashley Babbitt broke a window at the Capitol and climbed through, I'm sure she wouldn't have been shot. But there was an angry mob outside, with some of the protestors chanting "Hang Pence." Let me ask everyone something. If there were an angry mob outside the White House while the First Family was home, with some protestors chanting for the death of Donald Trump, and someone broke a window and climbed in, what would you think the proper response would be? Let her come in and not fire until almost enough rioters had entered the White House to overwhelm law enforcement, then start shooting? What do you think Donald Trump would have said to the Secret Service if he saw someone climbing through a broken window at the White House, with the expectation that many more were to follow?

"Just damaging property by breaking a window..." "Just?" And the officer who shot her was supposed to know that she only intended to break a window? I don't blame any law enforcement officer for using lethal force in a mob situation like that. In my opinion, Ashley Babbitt put herself in a dangerous situation, just like the ICE protestor in Minneapolis did. She is primarily responsible for her own death by her reckless actions, just like the ICE protestor.

As with anything, perspectives on these issues will vary considerably. This is where the information bubbles people live in are such a problem.

Consider this perspective (not necessarily mine): The MAGA right seems to think it has a monopoly on American Patriotism, and our connection to our heritage. But what if that’s not quite right? After all, if King George III had sent masked agents into various colonial towns and neighborhoods, dragging out and arresting undesirables, even if they’d lived there for decades, disrupting families, disrupting communities, disrupting economies, and sending them off to foreign countries with which they aren’t familiar, with almost no due process, that act would definitely have ended up in the list of grievances in the Declaration of Independence. That’s true even if they were trying to target criminals who’d broken English law.

From that perspective, these people protesting ICE are part of the anti-authoritarian, anti-tyranny, character that is as American as apple pie. From that perspective, MAGA’s insistence that everybody just sit back and take it, allow these heavy handed government invasions into local communities seems un-American and foreign.

In the left’s information bubble, they are bombarded with sad stories of immigrants being ripped out of their lives, no due process, videos of masked ICE agents bullying people, abusing people, punching people, grabbing them because they look foreign, and so on. If you believed all of that, you would be, and should be, infuriated. It would definitely be a government abuse worthy of civil disobedience.

In the right’s information bubble, ICE agents appear to be noble guardians of order and the rule of law, protecting people from murdering, raping, pet eating foreigners who sneak into the country, secretly encouraged by power hungry leftists bent on stripping Americans of their God given culture.

I think the fact is there probably have been abuses by ICE, and they should be held accountable for those. By the same token, they have almost certainly removed a number of dangerous people from the country.

But neither side has a lock on American heritage, and it would be far better for everyone to get out of their bubbles as much as possible.

Normally, I would think that the right of a cop to use deadly force would be based on the same criteria as the right of anyone else to use deadly force, namely, if he feels it’s necessary to prevent death or serious bodily injury. Merely preventing a crime isn’t enough of a justification for a cop, just like it isn’t enough for anyone else.

I think this is pretty clearly spelled out in law. Did the circumstances of the capitol riot change this rule? Did it lower the bar so to speak? Where is that to be found in the law? Or does the fact that Babbitt was part of riot automatically make her a threat to the life of others? In that case every rioter could have been legally gunned down with machine gun fire.

I don't disagree with much of what you just said here but you seem to be avoiding his main point. The Democrats are trying to paint a picture that there was a sweet married mother out for a ride and minding her own business that got gunned down by an evil government perpetrator of race hatred for no apparent reason in direct contradiction of their thoughts and actions on the Ashley Babbitt shooting. That is a problem.

I agree with DA that it would be good for both sides to tone things down and actually listen to each other with an open mind but I don't hold much hope for that in the foreseeable future.
