Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
Mortal sin (complete separation from God) comes with three conditions:
Many Catholics suffer from scrupulosity (raises hand), worrying that they've committed a mortal sin they haven't confessed that puts them at risk of eternal damnation. I recently heard a Catholic influencer say his priest once told him, if you're worried that your sin is mortal, it isn't. I see the logic of that statement, and it's been a great consolation to me.
I don't know James Carville's religious background or affiliation (although, being from Louisiana, he might well have been raised Catholic), but I'm pretty sure he knows what he said on Bill Maher's show about Christians and Speaker Mike Johnson, in particular, is a complete and utter lie.
“Mike Johnson and what he believes is one of the greatest threats we have today to the United States,” Carville claimed. “I promise you, I know these people.” When asked by host Bill Maher if he was referring to “Christian nationalists,” Carville responded: “Absolutely, this is a bigger threat than al-Qaeda to this country.” “And let me tell you something: The Speaker of the House, they got probably at least two Supreme Court justices, maybe more, don’t kid yourself,” he continued. “People in the press have no idea who this guy is, how he was formed, what the threat is, and this is a fundamental threat to the United States. It is a fundamental thing. [They] don’t believe in the Constitution. They’ll tell you that. Mike Johnson himself says what is democracy but two wolves and a lamb having lunch? That’s what they really, really, really believe.” “And to say, ‘Oh, come on, man. It’s just some crazy s***.’ No, no. They believe that. And they’re coming and they’ve been doing it forever. They’re funded. They’re funded. They’re relentless and, you know, they probably won’t win for a while but they might. And if they do, the whole country blows a gasket.”
This is what is called "bearing false witness against your neighbors." It's one of the Big Ten (not the football conference). Carville knows Christian nationalists (whatever that means and whoever they are) are not a bigger threat than Islamist supremacists. He knows it.
He knows his side is actively undermining the Constitution every chance they get. He knows that too.
I'm not looking it up, but I'm pretty sure Democrats are funded waaaay more than Republicans and it's probably some kind of miracle Republicans get elected at all. Or maybe it's because after Democrats trash everything, voters decide to give Republicans a chance to fix it.
And "relentless??" OMG, if any group is pictured in the dictionary under "relentless" it's leftists.
I'm not saying Carville is going to hell. That's God's call. But, I am saying a good Christian might want to say a prayer for his soul.
I haven't decided if I'm a good Christian yet. . .

It's a wonder the man hasn't been struck by lightning. He's disgusting and clearly has no shame.

AMEN. You're in "good" company (regarding Carville's trajectory:)

Undermining the Constitution, eh?
Which famous leftist said this as recently as a year ago? "Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.” Emphasis added.
Hint: The eccentric capitalization might give it away.

From their point of view, we are a bigger threat than al-Qaeda. A Christian Nationalist, as best as I can tell, is a Christian who loves America and thinks that Judeo-Christian values are a good thing. The left hates this and hates us. Why? We oppose everything that they stand for. Gavin Newsome in the debate the other night encapsulated in perfectly: we are going to take them back to the dark ages of racism, homophobia, etc etc etc. If Mike Johnson has his way, we will re-institute slavery and start to execute gays (gee, where is that actually occurring today?).We will put limits on the slaughter of unborn babies. We will not allow teenagers to irreversibly mutilate themselves. We will prosecute shoplifters and secure the border. So if your vision of America is a death cult, then yes, we are a threat.
James Carville as a professional pundit knows he is lying but that is what pays his bills. But the audience who cheers him actually believes that.

I'm trying to think of who the Republican equivalent to James Carville would be. Sean Hannity? He doesn't seem nearly crazy or partisan enough.
What is the Republican equivalent to an Antifa / Black Lives Matter riot? I guess Jan 6th? But that was a one time event, and wasn't nearly as violent or crazy.
Who is the Republican equivalent to Greta Thunberg? The Covington boy who stood in front of the older Indian activist who was screaming in his face? Maybe, but all he did was stand there politely - he didn't scream back.
James Carville is not an outlier.
The modern left is crazy. And getting crazier. Fast.
