Dear Democrats,

Before I talk about your future, I want to remind you about your past.

Remember how you spent decades telling African Americans that evil Republicans were blocking your efforts to pass legislation that would make their lives wonderful? And then, remember in 2008, after Obama was elected president, the House had a huge Democratic majority, and the Senate had a filibuster-proof Democratic majority? The Democrats had complete control of government. Remember all the great legislation you passed to make the lives of African Americans wonderful? Oh, wait. You enacted squat. You huffed and puffed and brought Obamacare into the world. Subsidized health insurance... Big whoop!

Not a single bill was even introduced to make African American lives wonderful. Why? Because all the necessary legislation was passed 50 years earlier (with Republican votes essential to overcoming the resistance from Southern Democrats). You lied to African Americans for decades.

Remember what happened next? To distract from your bluff being called, you invented a new lie. Suddenly, America was awash with “systemic racism” and white supremacy. Systemic racism was somehow beyond the reach of remedial legislation. You could not see it or hear it, but it was everywhere, and it was the reason the lives of African Americans were not wonderful. Suddenly the Democratic Party began flirting with reparations to change the subject. Suddenly the New York Times discovered the year 1619.

Race relations in America were steadily improving until 2009. It took giving Democrats complete control of government to send the trend line downward. By the way, what do you think happens when you tell black teenagers that getting good grades is a waste of time? What do you think happens when you tell black teenagers that the principal is disciplining them unfairly? Your lies have consequences, folks.

Now, let’s talk about the present. You guys are flirting with socialism. A significant segment of your party believes capitalism is bad and socialism is good. Have you given even a moment’s thought about what you would do if you won? Would you enact socialism? Please, you should not even joke about such things.

Many of your voters think socialism is like magic pixie dust. Poof. Due to the magic of socialism, government can simply start handing out free stuff to everyone. Have you given any thought to telling your voters the truth? That socialism is a crackpot economic theory from over 150 years ago that has failed miserably whenever and wherever tried? That the thought of applying socialism to an economy as large, successful, and technologically sophisticated as the American economy is a sick, sick joke?

Really, guys, what are you thinking? How can this flirtation with socialism possibly end well? You are telling the poor that evil Republicans are forcing capitalism on them when all economists acknowledge capitalism is responsible for lifting most of the world out of poverty. Lies have consequences. Please don’t dismiss this next sentence precipitously. Telling voters the truth is good politics. Please give it a try.

Yes, you won some elections by exploiting identity politics. In the process, you also harmed the country. Now you seek to win elections by exploiting jealousy, envy, and revenge. And again, you are harming the country.

G-Pub

PS: You guys are cynically lying about socialism, right? You don’t really have true believers, do you? Do you really think indulging true believers who are violent extremists is going to produce a happy ending?

Hello!? Are there any adults in the room?

Do you guys know that capitalism plus high taxes and generous welfare is actually capitalism and not socialism? Do you know Scandinavians were never socialist? Socialism is the one where the government takes control of everything. Socialism is the one that is anti-freedom and anti-private property. Socialism is the one that makes EVERYONE poorer. I know the math requirement is intimidating, but have any of you ever taken Economics 101?

BTW, pumping out money to your friends at NGOs is neither capitalism nor socialism. The word for that is “corruption.”

Their purpose was never about that. It has always been about power, the collection thereof and the use against their enemies.

The purpose is to collapse the "system" and enable them to seize naked power and enforce their desires by force. This action is by design. They believe they can "win" the resulting civil war.

If they told the truth, they would be closer to Republicans.

    GrandpaPublius (View Post):

Power. Stalinesque power. The ability to erase their enemies and promise utopia while delivering the guillotine.

It is how they maintain their present power. Capture tax dollars and launder it through NGOs into their own political coffers.
