Father today addressed the topic of Charlie Kirk's assassination. He pointed to the way that conscience torments the wicked man, leaving him two routes. In my own words: The first is to repent, to turn to God and find His Way. Become a good man. The other is to embrace the evil. Violence, lies, slander, intimidation, rape, fornication, murder. To wallow in sin until the conscience has been beaten into nonexistence by the vices, that nagging voice silenced.

He pointed to A Man for All Seasons. I'm partial to the 1988 Charlton Heston treatment, but the 1966 Paul Scofield is also brilliant. Sir Thomas More, Chancellor to the government of King Henry VIII, the second highest official in the kingdom, and devout Catholic, dissents privately on the vote by Parliament to name Henry the head of the Church in England. He is loyal to his sovereign, he keeps his dissent private. Henry, recently recognized by the Pope himself with the title Defender of the Faith, is discomfited by the voices of resistance to this law, and to the royal divorce that the law was passed to enable over the objections of the Pope. A loyalty oath assenting to the new arrangement was promulgated. The king would silence the inner voice of conscience by silencing all outer voices. Failure to sign the loyalty oath was punishable by death. In the end, Sir Thomas More chose his Lord over his lord in the matter, and famously became a blood martyr.

Charlie Kirk did not speak of it publicly, but he received a constant torrent of slanders and death threats for his pains in bringing the truth to campuses that were unaccustomed to hearing it. He debated all comers and was incredibly effective. Had he not been, he would be alive today. If his message were one of hate and bigotry, he would have been indistinguishable from his slanderers. His relentless dedication to truth cast light on the groomers and the "sex change" charlatans and the replacement population grifters. They did not repent. They did not yield to their inner voice. They murdered their consciences as surely as they murdered and slandered Charlie Kirk. And called it freedom of speech.

I will leave you here with the words of another priest of my parish, his catchphrase, if you will: May America bless God.

A very touching post, Sisyphus. I hope the day will come when we will feel less wounded over the loss of Charlie.

I knew of Charlie Kirk and TurningPointUSA before he was assassinated but not about the intensity of his Christian orientation or about his close connections with the Donald Trump's Administration and family. I've heard or read some statements about Kirk's input to Lutnick who, working with Musk and others, helped develop lists of candidates for Trump's appointments. Appears TPUSA had influence in the election and in the types of people in the Cabinet and truth was high on the list.

Obviously Kirk's message got to a lot of young people.

I noticed Turning Point early on. I did not follow their adventures devotedly except during election time, but I made sure to donate to them early just like with candidates I strongly supported. In listening to interviews of people close to Charlie I came to realize that, from day one at age 18, he aggressively developed his contact list and vetted possible candidate future candidates based on his own assessment. When the time came to fill the Trump 47 cabinet and top federal posts, he brought an encyclopedia of personal contacts and notes, and Trump listened. He also thought outside the box. He realized the problem with Washington insiders acting autonomously and against their own administration once they got the job, and helped to find skilled people who had been abused by Washington insiders and were motivated to actually help drain the swamp. (Compare that to appointing Bill Barr attorney general in the first term, the man who would strategize and manage lawfare efforts against Trump for Biden.) When RFK Jr. was getting abused every which way by the DNC and Harris refused to take his call, Charlie was already in contact with him and asked Trump to talk to him. I don't recall every last detail, but Charlie and Turning Point were running ops in all of the swing states in several counties each simultaneously by election day, along with a couple more he wanted to nail down. They outplayed the Democrat ground game in Democrat run precincts and states. And he knew the Trump voter. There is very little overlap between the Republican bankers and the MAGA bikers. Charlie was drawing on people who don't normally vote and won't necessarily vote for Col. M. I. Complex or CEO Winthrop on that Republican ticket.

By comparison, McCain and Romney had no ground game. Romney's ORCA strategy was an over-engineered attempt at a ground game, geared to funneling precinct results in real time via a custom app to campaign headquarters to trigger tactical resource allocation. The app became an obstacle in Virginia, where no device use is permitted in the polling area. A seasoned executive like Mitt bet his candidacy on a smooth app roll out. But he had already surrendered to faux news dished out by Candy Crowley. Sampling his podcast, Charlie spoke confidently and knowledgeably with a wide variety of experts and celebrities, and the smartest MAGA I know all spoke highly of him.

    I don't know about that. Losing Rush still hurts . . .
