Like many, I've been surprised at how low-key this has been. We're a few days away from the 250th birthday of the greatest country the world has ever seen, and that country knows how to party. And it knows how to overdo showmanship and spectacle. But the buildup for this historic event has seemed more like President's Day or Labor Day or something. That seems odd.
But just imagine - imagine if our president right now were Barack Obama. Every fast food joint would have Freedom Fries in red, white and blue packaging. GM would release red, white and blue cars as a one-time promotion. Every movie star, famous singer, and other celebrity would be taking turns professing their patriotism on YouTube, Reels, Instagram, Facebook, and network TV. Google's home page would be red, white and blue. Every night on TV would be more over-the-top patriotic and glitzy than the night before. Every baseball game would have fireworks for weeks. The spectacle would be mind-blowing.
All in an effort to normalize leftism to American citizens.
But because all those people hate Trump and other Republicans, they're trying to make this disappear before it even arrives. And it's working. We won't see anything about the Independence Day celebrations unless something horrible happens.
Great nations don't die of murder. They die by suicide.

The blue states are dying, not the red states, thanks to the fight MAGA is waging. I'm not saying only MAGA is fighting, but MAGA is the backbone. The rest of the fight is being waged by patriotic Americans, even apolitical ones. S.C. fireworks stands will sell a lot. Free concerts abound. We have a 250th commission.

I disagree.
If Barack Obama were the current President, we ( the American public) would be subjected to an endless stream of hate, negativity, and disapproval that the Founding Fathers and everybody since was not as perfect as Barack Obama is.
We would be prohibited from celebrating because the country's founders, and thus its founding was fundamentally flawed, for which we should be ashamed and hang our heads in embarrassment.
A President Barack Obama would prevent us from celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Glenn Beck told his viewers a secret today: DC will have the largest fireworks display ever on July 4th. It will have 850,000 thingies, which is about 10 times bigger than the biggest annual shows. It is only a secret, because the Media have quashed it. DC has Rodeos, a 50-state fair, flyovers, fun trains, and music every day. It is the greatest party the nation has every seen and all the "cool kids" are skipping it.
I was in DC two weeks ago for the UFC thing and it was great! 100,000 patriots walking around and having a great time. Fireworks, monuments, fountains, a B1 bomber flyover that shook the city, museums, .... it was great! This weekend will be 100X better. Anyone who can make it will be very lucky. DC is MAGA country this week.
(FYI, the B1 bomber is the loudest plane in the US.)

You may be right.
But recall that Michelle Obama said that the first time she was ever proud of her country was when her husband was elected President.
I still think that every corporation and media organization would be trying to promote America as a leftist dream.
And I suspect that President Obama would have found a way to get in front of that, seeking to build momentum to "fundamentally change" the country that he must temporarily pretend to admire.

I saw a list of activities for some Calif. city for the July 4 celebration. It was 2 hours of land acknowledgements and marginalization stories from every non-white ethic group followed by fireworks. Yeah!
