When Potential Disaster Looms

At this moment I am sitting in my office, awaiting the arrival of what will likely become Hurricane Debby. Since I live in central Florida, we will probably miss the brunt of the storm. We picked this location precisely because we were equidistance from both coasts, which we hoped and prayed would make us less vulnerable to hurricanes. So far, we’ve lucked out. But we are talking about Mother Nature here, and sometimes she can be nasty and unpredictable. Still, we have learned to prepare ourselves with water and food, a generator that will support our refrigerator, and pay attention to the latest forecasts. After all, there isn’t much more we can do.

I realized that this “wait-and-see” attitude is much of what is called for given the current state of our country and the upcoming election. It’s tempting to fall prey to the negativity, the lies of the Left, the efforts to transform Kamala’s reputation, the media's complicity with the Democrats. It can overwhelm us, anger us, and discourage us. No matter what we do, it seems like the Republicans repeatedly go on the defensive and allow themselves to be dazed by the duplicity and arrogance of their opponents.

But a better, healthier approach would be to pay attention to events as they unfold; acknowledge them and do what we can on a daily basis to counter the continuous falsehoods that seem to come so naturally to the Left. We can rant and rave about how awful they are (and sometimes we need to do just that to relieve ourselves of the toxicity), but mostly we benefit from speaking out with a certain amount of authority and consistency: nothing has changed in their positions, except for the details. The Democrats are as despicable as they’ve always been, and we just need to bear witness to their words and actions and speak the truth, every chance we get.

We also need to be proactive in preparing for the worst-case scenario. The truth is, the general public is repeatedly duped by the Left; we can’t count on a well-informed electorate. And the Democrats seem to find new and creative ways to compromise our election results; we can only hope that one day we will rein them in.

Preparing for the worst means being armed, trained and stocked. And hope we never have to defend ourselves.

I realized my waiting to see how the hurricane arrives was a good metaphor for wondering how the next six months will unfold regarding civic disorder and the elections. The breezes are picking up this morning with light rain, but that will change.

Fortunately, once the storm passes, we can breathe easier once more. But not so regarding the reign of Democrat terror. It will persist, no matter what happens in November.

Are we as ready as we can be?

It is an apt metaphor. It is a force that you cannot, alone, deter and for which you must have a plan to survive.

I flew out of Tampa early yesterday. Streets in Tarpon Springs were already flooding with early rain. My wife is there another week with daughters and grandkids--and an abundance of anticipatory stockpiles of arts and crafts supplies, games, snacks, and toys.

When I was a kid in Coral Gables, my parents fretted about big storms but I mostly remember being bored out of my mind, unable to go outside for the usual adventures for what seemed like an eternity.

It is probably the ruling managerial class elite who should fear the gathering storm. We have not yet recovered from the damaging guidance of "experts" on COVID. The media who sold Obama as a centrist moderate no longer has the credibility to sell the lie that Kamala is a centrist non-idiot. The lie that borderless multiculturalism is no threat to national identity and well-being is collapsing everywhere--even Catholic and Protestant gangs in Ulster have joined forces against their common enemy and the state cannot silence them anymore.

The fact that a grossly incompetent, vicious old windbag like Tim Walz is even considered as a VP candidate says more about the delusional nature of the Democratic Party than about issues, competence or personalities.

The downside is that the fate of the American Project is now hostage to the sensibilities and information deficits of single women, a growing demographic that believes words are weapons, victim politics makes sense, romance is dead, children are bad for the planet and government can guarantee everything and anything and somebody else will be made to pay for it. If "the future is female" and that female has pink hair, loves Hamas, and hates both fossil fuels and economic growth while expecting a high guaranteed income, the future is a nightmare.

I worry about the feminization of our population. The real dangers are discounted and new dangers are invented to serve their agenda. And ultimately, we, the citizens, lose.

And thus, Bathos eliminates any possibility of a future Vice Presidential nomination. Efficiently done.
