Calendars are a Riot

Many years ago, when my sister-in-law had just joined our family, I got her a calendar for Christmas. As she opened it, under the tree, she exclaimed, "Oh, good, ours was just running out." My brother, her husband, responded, "That always seems to happen this time of year."

Paper calendars are not passé, of course, appearing on those social media surveys that say, "Give yourself a point if you ever used..." along with rotary phones and floppy discs. We still have a paper calendar on the fridge, but we're pretty old school.

Many of us used to choose between pocket calendars: Month at a Glance or Week at a Glance. And there were, of course, the calendars that had just one day at a time. But they also had a Far Side cartoon or a Bible verse or something else to keep us tearing off the sheets to get to the next day.

I doubt many of the rioters in LA have on their person a Week at a Glance calendar. If they do, they will need to carry over their days marked "Peacefully Protest with Fire" from one week to the next. One would hope they would have a Month at a Glance calendar, which would be easier to mark out "rock throwing" for the month.

Now, even if the Rodney King rioters (we could call them riots back in the day) had Month at a Glance calendars, they would have had to carry on from April into May. The New York Draft Riots in 1863 began on Saturday, July 11th, so again, a Week at a Glance calendar would have been inadequate, since the riots went on to Thursday the 16th.

What I find interesting is that one of those one-day calendars would have been sufficient for January 6th. It was only a one-day riot, while all the riots of the left seem to go on and on and on. Why is that?

Is it because the authorities shut down the DC incident harder than other riots? Was it because the voices of the right condemned the riot, while voices on the left often encouraged their rioters to carry on? Perhaps because it truly was a spontaneous occurrence as opposed to riots on the left, which give every indication of being planned and financed.

Because the congressional "investigation" into the incident was most concerned with hiney covering and scoring points against Trump, we may never know fully what happened that day.

I'm just hoping that the ICE and pro-criminal invader riots do finish up before I flip my calendar to July. I've a feeling we're in for another "Summer of Love," and only those Year at a Glance (Decade at a Glance?) calendars will do.

A unique way to look at our current situation, Eustace. Thanks. I, too, hope you don't have to flip to July.

I really don't think Trump will let it flip to July. He learned from the riots of 2020. We shall see.

We Americans have been mostly docile while the enemies of individual freedom have been embedded within our society. I have my own expression for the Trump era. "The Great Reveal".

I truly wonder where we would be now without Donald Trump having decided to enter, not just the American, but the world political arena.

Following WWII in what many know as the McCarthy Era after Senator Joseph McCarthy, who was really tough on the Communists in our midst, Americans went soft on combating Marxist movements in our domestic society and I wager that many of our young voters today know little of this history. Trump has changed that.

If only the "investigation" had been that innocuous.

The investigation was brutally partisan and unAmerican like most every endeavor promoted by Democrats members of today's Democrat Party.
