Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
"And then by the way, all you a** wipes that vote Democrat every year, when you don’t get your permit, maybe you should think about a different direction politically." - Podcaster Adam Carolla
Adam Carolla's house burned down during the Palisades fire. He, like everyone else there, can't get a permit to rebuild. And he accurately predicted that.
Will the a** wipes intended recipients get the message? Would it be a winning message if Adam Carolla were running for office?
Blunt messaging seems to work for L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt (whose house burned down, too). It has worked for President Trump.
Jeb Bush told Donald Trump, "You can't insult your way to the White House," overlooking the fact that Democrats insult their way into office all the time.
Democrats have been using foul rhetoric for so long that no one notices. When a Republican descends to anywhere near that level, it stands out, leaving no pearl unclutched.
Am I suggesting that we descend to the Democrats' level? Not all the way. Unlike them, we can be honest. Trump, and finally some other Republicans, are pummeling the Democrats with the truth. And the Democrats are walking around with the dazed look of a bully that finally got punched.
I see that as a good thing and hope for more "divisive" rhetoric from the Republicans. Winning is better than losing.
So... will the people referenced in Adam's quote get the message? I hope so, but I'll believe it only when I see it.

We don't see much of ’ol Jeb. Sure was a polite guy.
Man, I wish I had typed that.
Loving the scare quotes around "divisive". No one ever explained to me what was wrong with divisive rhetoric, particularly since American's opinions are divided on a lot of issues. And it is precisely such issues which decide which candidate become[s] president...there can only be one and the election separates the winner from the loser...oh look, another division.

I know! Genius.

I haven't been following this recently - I thought the local jurisdictions had (temporarily?) relaxed the restrictions? Are there still vast swathes of burned-out residential areas with no (re)construction underway (or allowed)?

It's hard to get good information, but 12,000 homes were burnt down, and the number of houses rebuilt or permitted appears to be a two-digit number. The area still looks like a burned-out wasteland.
As an anecdotal data point, neither Adam Carolla nor Spencer Pratt have been able to rebuild their houses.
