Well, Putin as well, who was running around offering his services to broker talks as an International Statesman of Consequence to anyone who would listen. Getting ignored like that has got to sting.
And then there's Xi, who got to see bombers fly halfway around the world, drop fifteen-ton bombs, and hit targets the size of HVAC units. Any one of those bombs could turn the Three Gorges Dam into so much gravel. This, indirectly in defense of a small ally imperiled by a large hostile nation bent on their destruction.
Then there's Iran. Their proxies are in a sorry state. Hamas is hanging on by their fingernails. Hezbollah isn't answering the phone anymore. Every time it rings, they shriek and dive behind the sofa. Sooner or later, the Houthis are going to run out of the weapons that Iran has been shipping them. Iran itself announced that it was considering shutting down the Straits of Hormuz – and the price of oil fell 4%!
Certainly there are dark days ahead. But not today.
