Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
On Friday night, I was at the Patriots pre-season game to watch them play against the Washington Sillynannies -- or whatever they call themselves now. We were also treated to the unveiling of a 12' bronze statue of Tom Brady. Everyone tailgating was speculating on what the pose would be: long pass, end zone spike, etc. When the tarp was pulled back, I gasped...
Maybe people just see what they want to see. I couldn't help seeing this in the first few milliseconds. Tom and Don are good friends. I don't think this was an accident. Most of you can edit far better than I can, so here is the original I took in the third quarter. Pass it around and sit back and enjoy the reactions.

That's a nice statue. I am happy for Tom and all the Patriots fans.

Patriots are not just a football team. Many in our northeast don't get that. Tom Brady does.

I've never been to a football game with such intense heat. Otherwise it was a really fun night.

I guess you might gasp if you have absolutely no personal memory of the second half of the 20th Century or any sense of history.

Relax EJ. I'm just having fun. I missed the part where I said this is the first time anyone in sports put their fist in the air.
I know very little about commissioning a twelve foot bronze statue but I imagine Robert Kraft had three or four poses to pick from. I'm sure the final decision was longer than nine months ago, but not longer than two years ago. If he picked this pose prior to July 13, 2024 then it's just a coincidence. If his final decision was after July 13, especially right after, then he is definitely making a statement. Either way it's still funny.
