Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
The hypersensitive folks down at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) have got their panties in a wad once again over what they see as a setback to their ultimate goal of turning every man, woman and child into some component or other of the LGBTQIA2S+ rainbow utopian juggernaut. So, what is it this time?
Well, it seems that too many television shows with LGBTQ characters are being cancelled.
Are you as aghast over this as GLAAD? You shouldn’t be, and neither should they. But this is par for the course down at Hissy Fits “R” Us, where they won’t be satisfied until heteronormativity is wiped out and there’s not a straight white male left standing. Let’s delve into the details a bit. GLAAD has been conducting an ongoing “study” for nearly three decades, during which they tracked LGBTQ characters on television. "Incredible progress” had been made regarding the number of such characters, peaking at 637 (!) during the 2021-2022 season. In the ensuing few years, though, that number had slumped to 489 (which still seems like a heck of a lot). But now GLAAD tells us that over 200 of those will soon be going away due to series cancellations.
Well, smack my rear and call me Sally! Whatever will we do?
Hard to say, but we know what GLAAD will do. They’ll say things like, “the recent flurry of cancellations sets a dangerous precedent” and “hateful rhetoric from politicians and news media runs unchecked.” This will be an excuse for drama queens everywhere to work themselves into a lather.
Why, you may ask, are these shows being cancelled? Because that’s what has always happened to shows that weren't watched enough—they got cancelled. And since so many shows have been gratuitously packed with LGBTQ characters, it only stands to reason that cancellations will see a reduction in those characters. And guess what? Shows get cancelled all the time. Because too few people watch them... Often, because they’re not very good.
When I was thirteen (or thereabouts), I was devastated over the cancellation of Lost In Space. It was one of my favorite shows, and there wasn’t a single gay in the cast (though admittedly, Dr. Smith may have been suspect). But cancellations happen, and it’s not because of “hate” or some kind of conspiracy against the rainbow. We’re talking about Hollywood here. They love sexual deviancy! But they’re also running a business. They can only subsidize so much failure before they have to make some cuts. (See: Stephen Colbert.)
But a more important question might be: Why had so many shows been queered to begin with, peaking in 2021-2022? Because during those super woke years, the rainbow jihad piggybacked on George Floyd and made an all-out assault on the mainstream institutions and pressured their captives to exalt all forms of sexual deviancy. They saw how all the institutions prostrated themselves over the death of a nonwhite thug, so they practically beat down the intersectional door, broke line in the victim parade, and eventually took the number one spot by storm.
Those were heady times indeed. The rainbow jihad could get away with murder and aimed at all of civilization’s former values and morality regarding sexual and gender behavior. A time when the queering and even transing of children was completely out in the open and had the support of all our institutions, including the schools and even the White House. A time when drag queens were riding high, shaking their junk in the faces of children with total impunity.
And it was a time when the number of deviant characters on television shows wildly increased. But that bubble had to burst because such total decadence was unsustainable, even in an America that was teetering on the moral brink. After all, the overwhelming majority of us, contrary to popular belief, are not on the alphabet spectrum and are sick and tired of having this stuff flaunted in our faces all the time.
But according to GLAAD, we’re not sick of it at all. On the contrary, “inclusive stories are valued by all audiences.” This, of course, is backed up by its study: “In fact . . . 3 in 10 non-LGBTQ people . . . say they are actually more likely to watch a TV show if at least one of the characters is LGBTQ .”
Um-m-m . . .
No. I don’t know how the polling question was framed, but why would three out of every ten normal people be more likely to want to see LGBTQ characters in a show? I mean, why? It doesn’t make any sense. They might be okay with it, but why would they want it? It won’t be scientific, but I’m going to ask all my hetero friends if that’s true (and I can already guarantee what the answer will be: Hell no, why would I?).
But, of course, from the perspective of GLAAD, the situation with trans characters is abysmal, there being only four that appear in the list of officially renewed series. According to GLAAD, this comes at a time when “anti-trans rhetoric [reaches] new highs in our politics and culture.”
In reality, though, it’s not that people are anti-trans, they’re anti-sick-glorification-and-normalization-of-a-mental-illness. They’re anti-hulking-men-in-womanface-barging-into-women’s-private-spaces-and-sports. They’re anti-telling-little-kids-they-were-born in-the-wrong-bodies-and-being-offered-chemical-and-surgical-mutilation-as-the-fix.
You know what would be a great figure for the number of trans characters on network television? Zero. Unless . . .
Unless transsexuality was depicted honestly...which it never would be. Honesty would require noting that before this became a social contagion, trans people were one in a bazillion, and it was recognized as a terrible psychological affliction. Think you could do that, Hollywood and GLAAD? Fat chance, because your woke ideology says that virtually every child that pops out of a “birthing person’s” womb is a potential transvestite, and to you that’s a beautiful thing.
How about we make a deal, Hollywood and GLAAD? We non-alphabet people agree to keep watching our favorite shows even though you pointlessly injected LGBTQ into them, if, and only if, you also throw in some Trump-supporting characters—and they must be depicted at least as favorably as the deviants. Is it a deal?
I didn’t think you’d go for that.
So much for inclusivity.
So what exactly does GLAAD want? Nothing less than the queering of everything under the sun. As long as there is any significant slice of the American population that hasn’t been queered, transed, or otherwise alphabetized — or, alternatively, politically neutered — GLAAD will be in a perpetual state of alarm and discombobulation. But even if they got everything they want, it wouldn’t fill the gaping chasm in their lost souls, which they futilely try to fill with licentious sexual deviancy.
For most of us normies, it would be wonderful if this all went back into the proverbial closet where it belongs. But once Pandora’s closet — er, I mean, box — is opened . . . Well, good luck with that, humanity.

“In fact . . . 3 in 10 non-LGBTQ people . . . say they are actually more likely to watch a TV show if at least one of the characters is LGBTQ .”
In other words, a smallish minority of normal people are more likely to watch such a show.

Now that I think about it a little more, I guess the only explanation is that those 3 in 10 must be AWFL's (affluent white female liberals). Though, on the other hand, you would think most of them would claim to be bi-. So I guess I'm back where I started.

Lesbians are gay, right? So, the term "Gay and Lesbian," in addition to being redundant, is also gender-specific. I thought gender-specificity was a hate crime.
On a side-note: "Gay" is a misnomer! The most miserable, desperately-unhappy people I know are all gay.

Bible scholars know that '6' is a has a symbolic meaning of incomplete/corrupt/evil and that '7' has a symbolic meaning of good/completeness/Godly. Have you noticed the gay rainbow flag has 6 colors instead of normal 7 colors of the Noah Rainbow. That rainbow flag is inherently anti-Christian and a symbol of hate.

What is the "Noah Rainbow"? Last time I checked in the light spectrum there are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet.
What is the 7th color?
