Waiting for the Korean airport bus on Dec. 31 (by the sign with an upside-down big ol’ jet airliner), there were just four of us: a Korean family of three and me. I was going to the US, they were going to Jeju Island. The son, I'd guess about 8 or 9, was yodeling at a good volume. Swiss Miss, Slim Whitman yodeling. For more than five minutes. It’s not the kind of thing you easily forget.

The normal Oklahoma winter weather surrendered, so we had highs in the 60s. Nobody complained about climate warming or global change. It was a nice ten days.

The bad part about flying back to Korea was routing through Atlanta, which adds about six hours to the trip, because you fly east, then west. But, it DID give me time to think of a few items to post in an ongoing tribute to the old USA Today columns of Larry King. Once more, into the breach:

I don’t think I’d ever seen an Indiana University t-shirt, cap or sweatshirt until I landed in Atlanta. They were everywhere. Felt like I had mistakenly arrived in Bloomington. Success has so many souvenirs…

A lot of people watch the NFL. I prefer Barber College Football…

Speaking of the NFL, the Kelce brothers are so overexposed I can no longer see their eyebrows…

My car runs on unnatural gas…

I think if an appetizer is complimentary, the server should say something nice about it…

I’m convinced the sport of boxing began when a fight broke out in a glove shop…

The fitness app on my phone is passive-aggressive when it comes to bullying and belittling me…

I’m anticrastination…

Quakers are always in the “friend zone”….

How come you never see lint in nature?

Whenever a tornado is coming, I get all the clutter out of the garage and put it on my lawn…

We invented spaghetti in a can. There is NOTHING America can’t do…

Do arsonists ever suffer from burnout?

There’s a shop at the OKC airport called “Grab and Go.” I found out the hard way that it should be named “Grab, Pay and Go”….

I failed my eye test recently. I guess my pupils have a lot to learn…

Illiteracy is nothing to write home about…

All this time, historians have been referring to the great Indian Chief Crazy Horse, but what if that was just the name of his horse?

What did Gilligan ever do to have an island named after him?

My cousin is SO undependable that he’s not even always undependable…

People who adopt are putting on heirs…

My second step-cousin, twice-removed, once put back in, is famous because she was the first person in US history to report her tips, gambling winnings and garage sale earnings on her income taxes…

Thanks for reading. More soon. It was a long layover.

It pleased me to click the tag "Greta in short sleeves." Of course the result was just cycling back to the OP, evidently the only one that's ever used it. But tags are the great underexploited medium. Through tags, there is art.
