A society that puts equality—in the sense of equality of outcome—ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom. The use of force to achieve equality will destroy freedom, and the force, introduced for good purposes, will end up in the hands of people who use it to promote their own interests. - Milton Friedman
I do not know what I can add to this. Equality of outcome is the heart of DEI and the heart of communism. It is the antithesis of the traditional American values of freedom and equality of opportunity and letting those who use their freedom and opportunities best prosper most.
Why is the party currently in power all-in on promoting equality of outcome? Friedman answers that question: they plan on using the force required to impose equality of outcome to promote their own interests. We saw it in Lenin's Soviet Union. We saw it in Castro's Cuba. We are seeing it in Xi's China and Maduro's Venezuela. We must fight to see it does not happen in the United States..

I do not agree with this.
First of all, DEI is not about equality of outcome. DEI is about explicit preferences for certain groups.
Second of all, I don't think that traditional American values were mid-20th Century anarcho-libertarian extremism. There have always been issues of income distribution, and establishing fair rules, which are not necessarily the rules that favor the wealthy.
This is the type of libertarian argument that I see far, far too often. Essentially, "everyone who disagrees with me is Stalin." That's not true, and I don't think that it's honest. Reality is more nuanced than this.

Oh, there will be equity, of a sort.

Leftists are delusional/irrational. Prime example is the Canadian woman would said that affirmative action/DEI is "not about holding anyone back . . . it's making sure we all move forward together."
That's another way of saying the fastest aren't allowed to run ahead of the slowest. Or am I just too slow to see her point?

Leftists in leadership position, or aspiring to those positions, do not really want 'equality of outcome.' They want power for themselves, and power is always and everywhere convertible into wealth. Sometimes that wealth is directly dollar-denominated, as in the millions of dollars paid to Obama and other former presidents in speaking fees, or the money made by former government officials who leverage their contacts into executive or consulting jobs. And sometimes the wealth takes the form of in-kind benefits, like a governor's university mansion. (Those who lived in the old Soviet Union and Eastern Europe can tell you all about in-kind benefits for nominally low-paid officials.)
Obama said 'At some point you've made enough money' (I suspect his view of what that point is may have changed to a much higher amoung)...but he never said 'At some point you've accumulated enough power.'
