Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
There's probably several ways to express the division among the American people revealed most emphatically when Donald J. Trump was elected President of the United States. Trump's entry into that political campaign restarted an effort begun earlier by those calling themselves the Tea Party working to combat the socialist program efforts initiated by President Obama, leading with the federalization of the American health care system. The Tea Party effort was stifled by illegal interventions by the IRS.
Trump's first presidential term revealed much of the internal workings of the Federal Bureaucracy that were most likely first exhibited during the 1960s related to the conflicts in Cuba, South Vietnam, and culminating with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963. From that date forward, there was a steady increase in the influence wielded by the intelligence community agencies in American government, with increasing support from both the Republican and Democrat Parties. It was strengthened immensely by the Patriot Act after 9/11 and reached a point of dominant influence under President Obama.
Trump's ascension to the White House initiated a full-fledged effort by the established political organizations and the law enforcement and intelligence agency components of the federal bureaucracy to stop Trump's influence with the less progressively liberal and conservative elements of the American electorate. As more was revealed by Trump and his supporters, the more the anti-Trump elements would engage in illegal and politically questionable tactics including two impeachments of the President. The Covid-19 pandemic was used to support a major move to voting by mail in 2020, coupled with major big tech companies engaging with the federal government to influence censorship of social media information dissemination, had a major influence on the outcome of the 2020 elections.
Trump's political support grew during his term (many Americans hold the view that the 2020 election result was illegitimate because of various inappropriate interventions by government and corporate entities) and continues that growth through the present. Several factors and recent events are affecting that increase in Trump's favorability.
The American economy went in the dumpster with the Biden Presidency, particularly compared to the economy under Trump. America is now deeply involved in two major military conflicts, none under Trump at the conclusion of his term. The federal government influence and performance in medical matters during the Covid pandemic and continuing is highly questionable. The Biden Justice Department and two states have initiated highly questionable civil and criminal actions against former President Trump and others while the House has initiated impeachment inquiries against President Biden. Elon Musk made a major move to acquire Twitter, rename it X, and reveal the illegal censorship of social media information compact between Twitter and federal law enforcement. Matt Gaetz initiated an action that changed House Leadership with new Speaker Mike Kennedy and other recent events may influence many Americans to begin paying attention and get on the right side of today's issues.
President Trump has sustained and increased his favorability with Americans in the 2024 campaign for President.
By now, you probably know that Javier Milei, an outspoken and eccentric libertarian, has won Argentina's presidency after promising to aggressively tackle inflation, shutter the country’s central bank, end woke culture, and significantly reduce government.
Elon Musk is now initiating a new reveal of massive misbehavior:
Elon Musk Files Lawsuit Against Extreme Leftist Media Matters
These recent events and more coming will continue the eye-opening causing many to shift views and choose the right side.

Here's the text of an email from a member:
Hi Bob,
noticed you list Mike Kennedy and not Mike Johnson as the new speaker of the house. You may want to correct the typo.
Regards,
Terry
Here's my reply:
Thanks. In case you don’t know who Mike Kennedy is, he lives right down the street from me, serves in the Utah legislature, and should have been elected in 2018 to Utah’s Senate seat instead of Mittens. I will embed your email in my #1 comment.
There you have why I reserved this comment. Where I said Mike Kennedy should have been Mike Johnson.

The side Milei’s presently on!
* * *
I mean by that only that I am permanently on the side of an unchanging moral and pragmatical idea, and it is the same idea that the politician Milei believes in and is promoting—unabashedly, courageously, intellectually, and (at this very preliminary stage) successfully.
(You seem to believe that Trump is on the same side as the one that Milei so clearly is on. With respect: I don’t. I wish America had someone with the guts and the brains Milei’s got. I voted for Trump in spite of his lack of ideas and principles and I am glad I did, so we don’t need to resolve our disagreement.)
