Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
Tuesday, the man Luke Rosiak writing for the Daily Wire identifies as being behind the Satan after school club at a Chesapeake, Virginia K-2 school will be on the ballot for District 90 of the Virginia House of Delegates. No points if you guessed that the candidate is the Democratic nominee. From the Wire:
A Democrat candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates in next month’s election has sought to bring an After School Satan Club into schools, raised money for the Satanic Temple, and written books about the occult for children. Jeremy D. Rodden is the Democrat-endorsed candidate for next month’s statehouse elections in Virginia, running for the 90th District near Chesapeake. In November 2022, Rodden posted a flier to his campaign Facebook page that said, “Hey kids! Let’s have fun at After School Satan Club!” The flier said it is sponsored by the Satanic Temple and would take place at the B.M. Williams Primary School in Chesapeake.
(Emphasis mine.)
So maybe this is just a cheap stunt by an attention seeker? Check out his writing credits a few inches further along in the Wire article:
However, far from using “Satan” as an ironic example, Rodden has a deep fixation on the demonic. When he’s not running for public office, Rodden authors books aimed at putting “demonic” themes in front of young children. Books he has authored or contributed to include “Demonic Carnival: First Ticket’s Free,” “Demonic Household,” “UnCommon Evil: A Collection of Nightmares, Demonic Creatures, and UnImaginable Horrors,” and “Demonic Wildlife.”
All publicity is good publicity, at least for a certain ilk?
He is endorsed by the Democrat Party, the Secular Democrats of Virginia, and high-profile state politicians including Senate leader L. Louise Lucas.
Imagine my shock. Democrats lining up behind Satan.
Candidate Rodden's opponent is Republican Jay Leftwich, a nine year incumbent who garnered two-thirds of the votes cast in his 2021 re-election. I wish Jay the best.

This stuff has always been, and probably always will be around. Most of the time it hides in the shadows. But there are times like now, when it rises to the surface. Those are horrific times. They do not end without a great deal of human suffering.

But rarely are they so brazen. And when they are, a spotlight is called for.

Would be nice if more of the democrats were up front about their beliefs.

I think that goes for all politicians. Epstein Island, for one example, appears to have been a bipartisan operation.

To judge from the TV ads, the target Democratic Virginia voter is a woman who does not care how bad the policies are in every area of government so long as she can abort her baby at 8.5 months. Satan may be a feature, not a bug.
