“Dignified grief goes down very well with the voters, especially when it's shared by world statesmen. It's a wonderful thing, death. So uncontroversial." - The Rt. Hon. James Hacker (Yes, Prime Minister)

1987 is such a long time ago. Now, even death is partisan. In short order after the news of Lindsey Graham’s passing on Friday came word that at least two members of South Carolina's House delegation had called Gov. Henry McMaster to lobby for the appointment to his seat. That would give someone the leg up on filing to replace Graham on the ballot this fall, where he was seeking a fifth term. But it makes one recoil a bit since the Senator had hardly reached room temperature before the jockeying began.

And then there’s Mitch McConnell. The senior Senator from Kentucky has become the great unifier in the last week, creating unlikely partners in far-left Democrats and MAGA Republicans, each of them convinced McConnell is the Devil incarnate. These strange bedfellows have coalesced behind the theory that Mitch is dead and it’s all one giant cover-up.

My favorite social media reaction began, “My cardiologist’s sister lives next door to McConnell and she says he’s dead and they made everybody sign NDAs!” Of course, no one knows anything but death is a difficult thing to hide, and the number of people who would have to cooperate makes it very unlikely to succeed.

Absent any hard information one way or the other, my current operating theory is that McConnell may have had a drop in blood pressure and passed out. Whoever found him may not have been able to find a pulse and assumed, incorrectly, that he had suffered a heart attack.

If he fell and hit anything on the way down, he could be pretty bruised up and swollen. He may have some difficulty speaking and wishes not to be seen or heard in his current state. And who could blame him? A man wants to preserve as much of his dignity as possible, irrespective of the baying mobs in the outside world.

Let Mitch have his dignity, even if nobody else has theirs.

Bleep Mitch and his dignity. Any of these politicians, be it Biden, Feinstein or McConnel that should have left the stage years ago deserve our scorn and humiliation. They're irresponsible and deserved to be mocked and ostracized. It might be the only way these ego maniacs and their sycophants who convince them to hold on will ever learn.

I'm just waiting for Candace Owens to declare that Lindsey Graham was assassinated by Israel.

Mitch was leaving the stage- wasn't running for re-election. And before this incident, he was both coherent and effective. Not sure of his current status, but I wish him the best.

He had many moments where he froze and looked completely lost in the middle of press conferences. He clearly was losing it mentally.

Sounds like a small seizure. Not good, but he was coherent between seizures.
