Just a quick note before I set off for some travel on the Global Muslim Day of Rage, the Al Aqsa Flood, whatever you want to call it. I'll be strapped. Because I ain't going out like Reginald Denny (who survived, but who should never have been dragged from his truck by a bloodthirsty mob in the first place). And so Israel must harden their hearts and pack their ears with wax, lashing themselves to the mast with failsafe plans if need be, but the rudder must not be put over to appease the "give peace a chance" zombies. Stay The Course.
Israel gave peace a chance and must now give war a chance, real war. Not peacekeeping, not a special military operation, not a limited modified hangout climbdown. War ends when the enemy is so thoroughly defeated that ALL RESISTANCE STOPS. There must be no splinter faction, no guerilla campaign, and nothing more serious than isolated individuals holed up for decades on Pacific islands. War ends when there is victory, and victory means that there is DEFEAT. The enemy must be so thoroughly trashed that their own culture will no longer allow struggle with honor, and that is the tough nut to crack. It must be cracked, and in this case, pulverized.
It will not suffice to merely disable Hamas and yes, the Palestinian cause. It must be so thoroughly demoralized, shamed, and eviscerated that resistance is not only no longer occurring, but that resistance is no longer possible, and no longer desirable, no longer thinkable. When "Palestinians" are so thoroughly defeated that they accept the world as it is, then they may join the world as it is. Until then, they maintain themselves as its enemy, and get what's coming.
MAKE PALESTINE HISTORY AGAIN.
And until that happens, it is not a good idea to stop.
I'll have more to say about this in, oh, about a week.

Once upon a time the U.S. knew how to do this. It takes commitment which is in short supply these days.
