Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
Watch this space. Perhaps we'll come up with the answer.
Apparently, Kamala Harris has--late in the day--discovered she's a woman. One for whom white dudes and black dudes can cheer. One amongst which white women are also privileged enough to support. Ketanji Brown Jackson may--or may not--be available for comment.
Kamala is even a "minority woman," one whom Joe Biden used to be able to celebrate as a "DEI Hire" (when his party was sure that was a really good thing).
From the link on Forbes:
When Joe Biden announced he'd pick a woman of color as his running mate, he thought he was being progressive. Instead, he walked right into a DEI trap, gift-wrapping ammunition for every critic ready to dismiss Kamala Harris as a "diversity hire.” It's time we talk about the elephant in the room: sometimes, the road to diversity is paved with unintended tokenism.
Dear Lord. Am I the only person on Earth who wishes that Donald Trump had responded to his rude interlocutor from the aptly named "National Association of B-J'ers" when she asked him, "When are you going to disavow your followers who call Kamala a DEI hire?" with "That's what Joe Biden called her. Have you asked Joe Biden when he's going to disavow calling Kamala a DEI hire?"
God. If only the man would do his homework.
It's not hard. People. Come on.

Deep thoughts with Jimmy Carter:
Men wanting to be Women are "trans," but Women wanting to be Men are lesbians.

Perhaps an interesting peripheral discussion, but not really the point of the OP.

I just wanted him to ask “So are you saying that being a DEI hire is a bad thing?? I thought that’s what you lefties have been clamoring for! Everybody has to be hired for their diversity characteristics. Black, check. Woman, check. Why is this a problem for you to admit now, why aren’t you shouting it from the rooftops?”
And then if she demurred, he could have made her an offer: If Kamala was not hired just because she was a Black Woman, and instead for her awesome talents as a potential world leader, then let’s all agree here and now to not mention it again. She and her supporters will agree to never refer to her race or sex, and we will do the same. From here on out it will all be strictly past record and qualifications. Whatddaya say?
That would have been fun.

I think he did fine. As it is, he changed the question from being about his and his supporters rhetoric to whether or not Kamala considers herself black, how long she has considered herself black, why she switched.
DEI is a good thing, right? They have been drumming that into our heads for years. They have training sessions for all employees celebrating it. Hiring based on DEI has swept through companies across the country. Managers had their compensation affected by how successfully they hired employees who filled the sought-after classifications. How is being called a "DEI hire" a bad thing?
